Ahmed is correct, you can only specify an IP in an Advanced Zone, this is
because the CIDR is different for each POD so you do not know what IP range
your VM will be using until after it is deployed.

Bryan,
You can use Tags to tell CloudStack where you would 'like' it to put resources,
but tags are best endeavours.
If you have two clusters, but the one you want to place resources on using Tags
is full, CloudStack will simply allocate the resources to the other cluster.

Thomas,
To use Advanced Networking you have to use Tagged VLANs.
When a VM is unable to get an IP from its Virtual Router running on a different
Host, it is always down to VLANs.
Whilst you can create the Public Network as untagged, the Guest Network HAS to
be tagged.

Hi Asmita,
You don't have to, but its best practice to do so.
When you deploy a new Zone, the first thing that happens is that the System VM
Template, which you will have seeded to Secondary Storage is used to deploy the
SSVM and CPVM, the SSVM then connects to the Internet and downloads an exa

If you want to map VM interfaces to different physical NICs on the Host, you
need to create multiple Guest Physical Networks and then map traffic to them
using different Network Offerings utilising Network Tags.

Hi Geoff,
When you create a new isolated network offering, the specify IP ranges
parameter is set to no:

And this parameter is set to yes when the parameter "specify VLAN" is set to
yes.

Hi Fabrice,
You can create a new network offering for guest network which does not have the
specify VLAN flag set, then use it to create a new Guest Network, while you are
at id you set the specify IP Range option you can then also set custom CIDR
when you create the network.

When you initially 'create' the data volume, it does not actually get created,
you can see this in the GUI as it has no Hypervisor type assigned to it.
Only when you assign it to a VM does it actually get created. It will be

Hi Fabrice,
If users do not have a Secret Key and API key then they cannot use the API.
You could use a SQL Query to go through and remove all Keys. Admins could
still use the unauthenticated API Port, obviously on a random port for enhanced
security.

You can use the API to deploy your Zone rather than rely on the wizard, then
you can simply leave out the Public Network elements.
As you already have it deployed, simply use the 'DeleteTrafficType' API command
to remove the Public network from the Physical Network it is assigned to

Hi Nik,
The whole point of Cloud is that the applications running on them are Cloud

I recommend that you do regular backups of your MySQL DBs, and also Secondary

You should have every VM running a Scheduled Snapshot rout

Hi Lerry,
For XenServer, you match the labels used on the NICs or Bonds (if bonding is
used) to the XenServer traffic label on the physical network. For vSphere, you
map the vSwitch name to the VMware traffic label.

Hi,
This symptom is typically caused by not having your VLANs for your Guest
network traffic configured correctly on your Switches.
Check to ensure the VLAN ranges you are using for your Guest Networks have been
applied to your switch.
