Hi all, My new (to me) boat has water in all 3 fuel tanks. And one tank hasn't
been used in 14 years, but is full, or mostly so. An old salt told me that in
the old days they swore by Marvel Mystery oil. Has anyone heard of this? . I
have used Soltron in the past with good results. Trying to
On my 38 OF I have a piece of plywood that has 2 smaller pieces to sandwich
factory divider. Slides over the top, doesn't allow anything to fall into
engine space, and is easily removed for maintenance. Plus it is where I hang
the emergency tiller, and small shop vac. Never thought it wasn't

also wipe all surfaces with acetone prior to assembly. As for oil usage. How

lot. If you burned say 3 qts in 24 hours, that is only 1 qt

I would highly advise against drilling any where near an oil passage. One small
stray metal chip could get onto a bearing surface and you are rebuilding your
engine. Find the correct fittings and seal with permatex #2. I used NPT
fittings on my 3QM30 when I installed an oil pressure gauge.
I have washed many a car engine using the carwash pressure hose with no
effects. Without covering the alternator. I do keep spray away from the air
intake. Fresh water will not cause corrosion like salt water will.

clog. I strapped it to the pump discharge hose, adjusted to get maximum water

clutches and bearings are designed to use a certian type of lubricant. Using

2, 1 for black water (leaked), the other was a square tank under the v berth.
Could only put 10 gallons in a 40 gallon tank. Rest was air. Replaced both with

If it hasn't been replaced it is probably a 3QM30. 3QM30F is fresh water
cooled. Mine was raw water cooled. It has a vane type water pump for a
circulating pump and another below the alternator for raw water. TOA Marine

was told by a marine mechanic (that repaired paragons) that you have to hold it
in reverse. There is no detent. As for removing it yourself. Pull the V-drive

Ryan, It looks like it is leaking from the weep hole. There is a hole in
the pump housing, between both shaft seals. One seal is for oil, the other is
for coolant. This is a common place for leakage. The coolant rusts out the
spring that holds the seal tight against the shaft. When

When I do Pegasus's bottom I use just under 2 gallons. 3 coats at
waterline, rudder, leading edge of keel, and 2 coatseeverywhere else. This will
last me 4-5 years here in the PNW. Oh and then only knock off the hard stuff. I
