this year are the American Tree Sparrows I am catching. I only
see one loner ATSP some years, and none at all most winters. So far I’ve banded
8 in the last couple weeks. Unexpected, and they are attractive soarrows. A
bonus.

Now I am seeing about 95% juvenile birds, with only about 10 adults this week,

another Ruby-crowned Kinglet (#48), and a very late Warbling Vireo (juv). My

A flock of 8 crossbills made a very brief appearance at my backyard birdbath at
9:15 this morning, then gone - 3 males, 5 female type. I will keep watching,

few mornings, too. Thursday there were 8 Killdeer, and today a Peep flew away

What I posted yesterday- Broad-winged Hawk and Veery at Tempel Grove, Bent Co,
Sunday, midmorning. Also arriving later, after most folks had left, FOS Gray
Catbird, and at least one more, maybe two additional Redheaded Woodpeckers,
noisily chasing from tree to tree.

Swainson's Hawks are actively bringing twigs to their nest (and copulating in
the tree tops!), and the Wood Ducks were high in different cottonwood today,
apparently checking-out cavities. Not all the birds are migrating!

area. Then the wind kicked up again, and I closed the nets.

summer (a female). She joins the crowd of other visitors, and makes four
species in the yard right now, with numerous Rufous, and a few Calliope, and
Broad-tailed. The best part of summer!

non-Broadtail of the summer. This is a little later than average, but we're
glad to see 'em!

than the pale gray White-winged, appreciably smaller, and more lightly built.
Also, last year I had two different White-winged Juncos without white 2
wingbars! There is a lot of variation out there, not even counting the
intergrades.

Hi, again, COBirders,
On my drive home today from CBR, Hanover Road was loaded with raptors,
presumably many of them migrants. Seen on poles were a Ferruginous, 3
Swainson's, 7 Red-tails, 2 Am Kestrels, 25 Chihuahuan Ravens split between
three flocks, and 2 juv Cooper's Hawks at CBR.
