We had a great-tailed grackle sitting on a electrical pole normally inhabited
by various raptor species, behind (east of) our office this morning. He was
being harassed pretty severely by a Say's phoebe.

Saw my FOS Swainson's hawk this afternoon, 3:10 p.m, while going north on
Kipling, just north of Ridge Rd. Took me three good looks to ID him, as he was
repeatedly stooping out of the sky to harass a slow-moving red tail. It's now
officially spring in my book!

Today (St. Patrick's Day) while driving up to Ft. Collins, I saw my FOS turkey
vulture just north of Hwy 7 and Interstate 25. He/she was just west of the
interstate, around 200 ft high, flying east and about to cross over the freeway.
It definitely feels like spring now!

are also visible on the perched photos; SEOW tufts are 3/4 of an inch long and
are usually only visible when the bird is in camouflage mode with its facial
disk scrunched up into a trapezoidal shape, with the eyes half-closed.

proliferation of floater balds in the Denver Area, perhaps this eagle is
planning ahead, so to speak. I have not previously seen a bald eagle of any age
on that platform, but instead on the lake, especially when portions of it
freeze in winter.
Good birding to

kite. It did a couple of loops near the south end of the park and then flew off
to the south. Location was: Willow Creek Park, Lamar, Prowers County.
