On the desktop I was able to create a link to my cdrom with:
create cd/dvd-rom and picking the right device in the properties. Now I
can't see any cdrom devices listed. Provisionally I have dragged a link
from /mnt/cdrom and /mnt/cdrom2 to the desktop, but I wonder why it
worked in RC1.

I tried using the snd-via686 module, but sound is very very choppy when
using esound or the xine alsa module. Sound is okay when using arts through
alsa, or oss emulation. Sound is also okay with the via82cxxx module. Am
