Everything worked fine until this morning.
The PC boots up normally and I can log into the system using lightdm-greeter
after which I end up seeing nothing but my wallpaper.
right clicking works fine and I am also able to open up a terminal by using

I know cups dropped cups sharing but both the server and the client I
have have avahi running and sharing is not working anyway since I
upgraded to quantal (and thus cups 1.6.1).
This is a serious regression as we can't possibly ask
