were almost at idle, but the SB3 Buffer was always less than 1% full.
It would play mp3 and wma but not flac. All working nicely now though

In SlimServer's web interface, go to player settings for the
appropriate player (if you have more than one), then scroll down to
screensavers.
It's in pretty much the same place in the player menus.

allowed under 'OUT', both TCP and UDP. No connections show 'IN' for all

1) I followed your instructions, and the script worked first time!
2) iTunes plays/runs about 3 seconds earlier than the SB3. Thus the
'IN' for all five entries?

-SlimServer Web (TCP) port 9000
-Slim (TCP) all ports
-SlimTray (TCP) all ports
All connections are only 'OUT' right now. Should I make all 'IN' as

I installed MySQL awhile ago, hoping that my slimserver would run a bit
quicker. But it created actually more problems, like whenever a new
song was requested during Random Mix there was a 10 second pause or so

When you say the new version do you mean the 6.2.2 branch or the 6.5 branch?I'd say you have two options:1) Go back to your old, good level. Either of the two above levels are still beta levels and not yet released. One of the caveats of going to them is that you may hit bugs.

I'm using a 6.2.2 nightly with no problem. But you still haven't said which new version you tried, so I'm not sure if that's applicable to you or not. And in any case, I'm running on Windows XP and on a nightly from a few weeks back, so it wouldn't necessarily apply to your case.

Understandable. Foobar isn;t the most intuitive program I've ever used, but I recommend it highly anyway for its flexability in batch transcoding FLACto MP3. Once you've got the list of files you want to transcode selected, right mouse click on them and select convert. You'll find the

Fast Audio Converter is another option. It does batch processing so you
can do all of your files at once, and you can select the output
destination if different than the source location.
Works well and the output bitrate is selectable in CBR or VBR. Encodes
To/From other formats as well.

So if I remotely connect with SoftSqueeze to my slimserver at home, and
have OpenSSH set up on the home machine, do I still have to have ports
9000 and 3483 open on my firewall (it's an hardware firewall, behind
the DSL modem, the home pcs don't have a firewall),
