Have you -ever- had a Symantec anti virus product installed on this
machine?
I had a very similar (possibly the exact same) problem and it turns out
that Symantec A/V products don't completely uninstall. I ended up doing
a complete reformat/re-install, which solved the problem.

Sounds the same to me (playing FLAC native).
Much nicer interface (album covers!) - and built-in support for Pandora
and MusicIP.

Does not work in the sense that the MySQL service isn't started before
SqueezeCenter? Some other way? The spelling matches the name of the
mySql service in currentcontrolset/services?
BTW, the inability to set a service dependency in the SCM has been
there since NT5.

If you're using an optical SPDIF, try a wire one.
You could also try swapping from wire to optical (or vice-versa) with
