I don't blame anyone for cashing in. They've worked hard and deserve
to be rewarded. But only $20 million for the world's leading player in
a rapidly emerging field? Where are the guys who negotioted the YouTube

Most people dont like the idea of a small independant company with a
good track record being taken over by a large multi-national; always
fearing (often rightly) that product quality, support takes a nose
dive. This may happen even now - we can hope not and that certainly

I think it was inevitable, a small company like SlimDevices wouldn't be
able to compete as larger companies would have basically copied the SB
and made it cheaper sooner rather than later.

I've sadly had to revert to SlimServer 6.3 with this problem still
happening.
Can you advise me if you have managed to fix it, or offer alternative
options (e.g. store cache on different drive / switch off cache / dont
cache artwork)?

The problem seems to happen when SB3 is switched on and associated with
a slimserver. If slimserver is not running the problem doesn't occur.
I didn't know about the -noupnp option but I'll try it later.(good

If it only happens with slimserver running - I would think it is upnp
associated or possibly conflict on port 9000.
IIRC in 6.5 slimserver acts as upnp client to enable user browse upnp
served media - I think happens as part of the solution to support
Rhapsody. The -noupnp stops this upnp

This is bang on the mark. The high-end audio marketplace is *extremely*
badge-sensitive, and the Transporter branded as a Logitech product will

When listening to music using XMMS (and I believe also winamp),
streamed from SlimServer (6.5 official), the tag information that is
displayed keeps jumping around. To explain...

I think this is good news - what Slim needed to progress to mass market was more RD investment, access to mainstream, global, distribution and cheaper manufacturing costs to get the end product price down.All of that should come with Logitech. They're one of the high end aftermarket peripheral

converting to FLAC.
To me the transcoding is not the problem, but lack of volume leveling
is. There is apparently no support for WMA Lossless volume leveling
tags in the SlimDevices system (hardware or software).

Slimserver 6.5 is throwing an exception while scanning my library. If
i'd have to guess it is because one (or more) of my files or songs
contains a funny character that the scanner is splitting the string one
(eg '). Is this a known problem?

a major threat, then $20 million is a drop in the bucket. If they
wanted to kill the SB so it wouldn't compete with their own product,

There should be no audible difference between EAC and Audiograbber FLAC
files at all (unless one of them is adding some gain compenstaion or
normalisation) otherwise they wouldn't be truly lossless.

Well, it's not Windows Defender causing the problem. I have turn it off
completely now and rebooted my PC and still getting scanner.exe crashing
with the Windows error.
Any other ideas? Other than re-installing Windows XP and all my other

These two look pretty solid although I guess there's lots of other

I am also having this problem since updating Slim Server to version

the scan gets so far and then crashes with a Windows error relating to
