i was in Fry's in San Jose today (reveals me as a geek) and they had a
duet just there in the shelf. i could not help myself, even though i
own 3 SB3s (or because of that!) i got one. on the spot. i'll post my
impressions, as i am hooking up to the Accuphase mainsystem today...

the SB3 never had such issues. i am less in love with the concept -
pricier, and the remote just doesn't work reliably in a linux
configuration it seems.

My nerdy side would like to switch them around at times, and I probably
will do it from time to time anyhow, but I'll use the Ubuntu machine as
my always-on home server that runs SC and supports all central storage
and backup.

flawlessly in the same environment. I quickly relegated to SBC to
bedroom listening station duty, where I don't have to deal with it that
often. A tad expensive for that, though.

File sounds fine on my setup.
So the hiss starts when you play this file, and the setup is silent
otherwise, or is there a high noise floor all the time? Is there hiss
when powering off the Squeezebox? Make sure there are no adverse power
effects.
