Interesting that no-one has mentioned Inguz in this thread.
I've had a 2 and 1 for ages but never synced them because all my music
is flac. I recently tried syncing the 2 with softsqueeze which was very
unhappy with Inguz. After a lot of messing I found that all players
needed to have the same

The fact that your laptop is showing a lower-than-expected data speed

Please do swap them over again and let us know what you find.

I now have three SB3s all on the ground floor and in adjacent (pretty
much) rooms. FWIW I seldom synch the set up, mostly due to my
listening habits. Plus I don't really like leaving stereos etc
switched on if nobody is in the room.

Thanks to all with the good input on syncing - I appreciate hearing
about your success with this functionality.

Don't be put off on my account! I'm encouraged by the many reports of
people for whom sync works
I have 2 SB3s (Slim Devices in silver and black even) and got the first
one to free my digital music collection from the PC. Excellent move!
But it's hooked up to my HT setup, and often times my wife or daughter
are watching tv and I really don't want to watch what they're watching,
so I find
I also don't have a usage model where I use sync regularly. I used to
have a setup with a Transporter in the living room and an SB2 in the
bedroom. I felt no need to sync these although I might have for
testing purposes.
When I was testing out the SBR I had it connected to the living room
I'm getting pretty concerned about my plans for a SB3-based whole house
setup after reading this thread. I thought that synching between SB's
was reliable and worked well. I'm planning on using a SB3 and then 2
additional SBR's to allow syned music play in several areas of my
house.
Is there

Why? This thread is mainly full of people saying they don't use it for
one reason or another. But it does work, we just don't use it. Which
posts concerned you?

I have a Transporter in the family room, and 6 Squeezeboxes (4 Classics,
2 Receivers), all wireless, on a pretty well optimized network. Yeah, I
know... but I don't pay retail and, well, someone has to test multiroom
set ups.
My wife syncs 3-4 of these virtually every day, listening to local
I use sync almost every day and overall it's very robust, never a worry.
But I do listen to a fair amount of gapless music. For me the short
resync gap at the beginning of every (gapless) track is the biggest
weakness of the whole Logitec/SlimDevices system. I find I actually
steer away from
Increasingly I have the living room Transporter and the kitchen SB3
permanently synced. This is beacuse I move between the two rooms a fair
bit and because the lounge set up provides a big loud sound for the
whole of the downstairs and most of the upstairs too. If I become
ensconsed in one room
It seems to me that there have been a number of threads both in these
fora and on the wider internet about the use of synchronisation with
music services like Rhapsody/Pandora/Slacker and Internet Radio as well
as local music files.
I am intrigued about how important sync is to people out there,
The only time I use sync is when I'm doing stuff around the house and am
moving between a few rooms, I'll set all the 2nd floor players (for
example) to be synced so I get the same music everywhere. The big
problem with sync for me is that it's not gapless, which kills 90% of
the music I listen

Nah, you'd want different music in the bedroom - Barry White, for example ;)
Personally, I've found that Bill Wither's Greatest Hits never fails :)
R.
There's only me in my house so I can only ever listen to one source at a
time. Therefore I sync both players (SB3 and SBR) so I have the same
music everywhere (and will probably get 2 more receivers when they ship
separately) and swith amps/squeezeboxes on/off as necessary.
Gapless isn't a major
I have 5 SBs and rarely sync them except for parties. Even then, it's
mostly a stunt.

I used to try to sync my SB3 downstairs with SoftSqueeze running on the

beat. At least, that was the theory. In practice, Softsqueeze just
wouldn't keep in sync; this made the trip up or downstairs momentarily
painful. But
