Thanks for sharing your interest. I'm glad you don't want a USB output
port. Although it wouldn't be difficult, it's beyond the purpose of the
product.

I see it is spec’ed for 12 V. Does it catch fire if you run it on 13.8 V, like
most ham power supplies? Or 14.8 V, like my shack?

So forgive me but is it the case that the 32 bit elecraft utilities will not

Unless you ran it under emulation (e.g. wine or something like that), I
think you are misremembering. KX3 utility is currently only available as

As for the upgrades, I suggest you download the instructions for the K2

All,
While those connections and settings may work, I see 2 things that can
be considered improvements.
First is to use DATA A - its default sideband is USB and it turns off
compression and EQ leaving your normal SSB EQ and Compression settings
as you choose.
Secondly, using DATA A turns

Buck,
Running a heavy power supply line with a lighter gauge wire at
the radio end OR a lighter wire at the power supply end, the
overall net supply resistance (and voltage drop) will be the same.
For example, 100 Ohms in series with 1 Ohm equals 101 Ohms net total
resistance.
Likewise 1 Ohm in

In transmit 100 watts, you should see 13.5 volts or more at the radio.

Always use DATA A mode for data. That is a USB mode that automatically turns

Prior to acquiring an ACC cable to interconnect my KPA500 to the K3s I used an
RCA WYE cable to allow me to parallel the KEY signal from both the K3s and the
KX3 to the KPA500. This has worked well allowing me to get about 350 watts out
of the KPA500 when driven with the KX3.
