have a XG2 that I haven't built yet, and I see that it has a +/- 1khz
accuracy. I was thinking of using that to at least get the counter (a
Heathkit IM-2410) close enough so I don't have to use the other
transceiver. The XG2 will work ok for this won't it?

No they have not. I spoke with Lisa on Friday, and I was her last order
of the day. On the shelf, she had serial numbers 5982, 5983, 5984, and
5985. Of which I took 5982. She said 6000 should be in the next
"batch" of kits that are put together.
