I've had a lot of keys in my 48 years of hamming - and I've kept them all
(they are on display in my living room!). For portable use, I've used a

I've been making tuner loss measurements for an upcoming QST review of some
remote autotuners. My set-up is similar to the ARRL lab, but I've made a
few changes. I have two different load boxes. One is a resistive load box

Sounds like the KPA500 Pin11 inhibit input is low on 6-meters. If you are
using the Elecraft 6-meter preamp and switching it on automatically using
this pin on the K3 accessory port, then you are also disabling the amplifier
on that band. Pin11 needs to stay high.

environment? I run QSK with my K3, KPA500 and MFJ-998 with no problems.
Almost sounds like there is some hot-switching going on that makes the tuner
declare a SWR fault. The tuner should be outside the QSK loop

A good cable is the 6-foot SVGA M/F cable from www.cablewholesale.com, part
number 10H1-01206. All 15 pins are connected through, no pins are shorted
together, and there is a foil shield with drain wire - and the cable is only
$3.25. Here is the spec sheet on that cable:
