Hi Doug,
OK...just how wide is the bandwidth when limited by the K3's BP filters?
For what it's worth...
A quick and very dirty attempt to simulate one of the filters using
Elsie 2.12 (free version) gave me in the 10m band filter a -3dB width
of roughly 2.7MHz, after some tuning - 40pF
When I told my YL I was ordering a K3 her answer was Only if isn't loud...
German: Nur wenn es keinen Krach macht. (Krach = raise hell, crash,
bang, noise)

You must be a
DSP filter responses can be calculated exactly, they don't actually
have to be measured.
As long as we don't have exact and detailed information about the
implementation of the filters in the K3, the responses curves can not
be calculated by third parties.
I just noticed that the price of the KPA3 is now up (I think) $50 to
$399. I think the 5 pole filters are also up ($20).
Can anybody check me on that? Does anyone know when this happened?
It sure looks like it. I'd need to check my invoice, which I don't
have here at work, so I may be
Switching the RX Ant switch to the main antenna or removing the RX
Antenna BNC lead cured the problem.
You may be receiving to much power on your RX, which could cause
unwanted oscillations somewhere in the transmitter.
It is always a good idea to automatically disconnect the RX antenna,
about it or not, but would be interested in solving this problem, as it
impacted my ability to use our beverages on RX.
At the Bavarian Contest Club's contest QTH we use a simple relay to
disconnect the rigs reception antennas whenever the rig goes to a TX
state. A simple relay, a few
The Report from the Bavarian Contest Club is now available as a PDF in
English and German. We will be updating the report very soon with
interesting new measurements and comments, and plan to continue to
update it on a more or less regular basis:
Hallo,
has anyone done any IMD measurements at 10kHz or less with the 2.1kHz
and/or 1.8kHz filters? If so, please contact me directly.
