Subject: stop information store
Had another episode where my Outlook clients (Outlook 2003 and 2002)
showed my Exchange Server as unavailable (Exchange 2003 on Windows 2003
member server).Exchange server did not show any errors. The server's
shared folders were available.
I decided
and restart them (stopped IIS and
dependent services, SMTP,) When I tried to stop the Exchange Information
Store it showed stopping, but would not stop. I gave it fifteen minutes.
I then had to reboot the system as I could not wait any longer.
What would prevent the Information Store from stopping
Ok, a couple questions. In general when I shutdown my exchange services
(i.e. I am going to apply an update to my GFI services Mail Essentials or
Mail Security) my information store shuts down within a minute or less.
(small organization - 30 users). Which is why after 15 minutes of waiting
them (stopped IIS and

I'm running Windows 2000 SP3 with Exchange 2000 SP3. I rebooted the
server last night at 8:00pm EST and the current time is 11:26am EST. My
problem is the Information Store service says it is still starting.
Everything seems to be running just fine, but I have never seen the
Store service take

you're having problems with getting the store up, uninstall the anti-virus

Anyone know what happens to emails that are being sent to an account that is

I tested this out, but the emails just vanished.
I created a test store, and moved a test mailbox to it. I then sent test
emails which delivered fine. I then dismounted the store, and sent
Event ID 7024, Source MSExchangeIS, Type error.
Error code: 429496
I've seen this when the EXCHSRVR directories are included in the AV scans.
Might want to check and make sure those directories are excluded from your
AV software. I originally found information about this at www.eventid.net.

The batch file is invoked by a 3rd party scheduler which just runs it in a
command prompt with the logged on user, which is the administrator

I have the following error on one of my Exchange 5.5 SP3 servers. Servers
are configured to shut down in the evening just prior to an offline backup
being carried out. When the batch file runs to restart them, the following
error is noted in the Event Viewer, and the Information Store
Performance Optimizer maybe? That will at least get the registry straight on
where the IS is.

1 hadn't failed while running on
Physical Server 2. Today while Virtual Server 1 was running on
Physical Server 2 it failed.
The information store fails. The server then initiates a failover
which isn't successful the server then hangs.
