Actually Charles I have. I later found out that I could not uncompress bzip or rar files if they managed to get over about 20meg. This got very depressing and I reinstalled 7.1 to make sure there was/is no problems. 7.1 worked flawlessly! I reinstalled 7.2 a number of times and in the end went to

I found my problem. I just got mail from my @home provider that they just majorly upgraded the mail server and had a hardware failure. I suppose if linux-mandrake sees my address as defunct after a few days of trying to send the mail, I just get wiped off the list and have to re-up as I did. All

Go to Edit, Preferences in Kdat and enter you tape drive name. Mine is /dev/tape. FYI, your tape drive will whir the tape everytime the SCSI bus is reset and everytime you insert a tape. A SCSI reset happens when you boot up. This doesn't mean that the OS is doing anything, it's a hardware

mirrordir *isn't* broken. It's designed to do exactly what it says, create a mirror. That means it recreates the directory structure exactly as it is on the source machine, under the specified target directory (in your case /tmp). It may not be what you want, but that's what it's supposed to

I don't have any problems with uniprocessor on XFree 4.01, just smp mode and I think that its related to the sound module. When I recompile the 2.2.17-24 kernel with the sblive sound driver and no sound modules then the smp kernel works ok. Its only with the sound modules that the problem occurs.
