attempt to mount a tape using Kdat I get the 'ole message "no tape in

FYI, your tape drive will whir the tape everytime the SCSI bus is reset and everytime
you insert a tape. A SCSI reset happens when you boot up. This doesn't mean that the
OS is doing anything, it's a hardware

When I connect, I get the login panel. If I use kde, the starting
dialog runs, but then I'm left with a blank desktop. If I choose

mirror. That means it recreates the directory structure exactly as it is on

I have installed vmware 2.0.3 under Mandrake 7.2. Unfortunately things
went as I though they would be:
1) NO DGA modes even after checking, rechecking if the line omit dga is
commented out on XF86Config. Is there anything else I can do?
2) The parallel zip stops working as soon as
7.2 appears to simply reboot for no reason sometimes. I have had it
rebott when attempting to compile programs manually. Is this a flook or
is anyone else experiencing this behavior?

I don't have any problems with uniprocessor on XFree 4.01,
just smp mode and I think that its related to the sound
module. When I recompile the 2.2.17-24 kernel with the
sblive sound driver and no sound modules then the smp kernel
works ok. Its only with the sound modules that the problem
occurs.
You need irqtune. You can set the serial ports to a higher IRQ priority than the
disks.

In LM 7.2 I am not able to print. When I send a test
page from the client the data is spooled to
/var/spool/samba dir but its not printing.
I am sure it's a config problem but not sure what.
