hmmm,
a "cat /etc/fstab|grep fd0" on my RH7.1 box at work yields
/dev/fd0/mnt/floppyauto noauto,owner 0 0
unfortunatly i am not allowed to use floppy disks at work so i cannot
actually verify if it works on a windblows formatted floppy or not.
but i suppose it will work with a floppy
I would assume that supermount is still working/workable in the
mandrake 2.4.17 kernel. I wouldn't know since I couldn't get any of
them to run or boot properly on my laptop (kernel panics or
pcmcia/sound problems). Supermount is still one of those patches that
mandrake adds but which is not
I certainly DONT know the answer but
DOS and ext2 are different filesystems. I would think that you would need
two mount points like /mnt/dosfloppy with a matching fstab entry AND a
/mnt/ext2floppy with a matching fstab. NEITHER of which would mount on boot.
Good luck

Ever since I started using GNU/Linux (2-3 years now), I have had audio/video
synchronisation problems in RealPlayer (currently version 8). The sound seems to
run fine, but over time the video falls increasingly behind. If I pause then
play the clip again, the sync is restored, but progressively wo

huh?
I had supermount working flawlessly with kernel 2.4.11-6 so if supermount
doesn't work with 2.4.17-X then its because they broke it again..
my biggest complaint with the newest kernels is the new method of packaging
the headers, I prefered them as a headers rpm.. having to upgrade glibc is
It used to be, in times of old, there was a script included with these
distributions, called "genhdlist". When involked, it would (as you would
expect), generate an "hdlist" file.
I cannot seem to find that file anywhere now. In its absense, how do you
generate an hdlist?
TIA!

Hi all,
I'm in a bit of a spot here, here's the dreary story:
I downloaded the 8.2 beta disk 1 and wanting to download disk 2 decided to
tranfer the first .iso image to the pc with the burner in it.
I use Gftp for that transfer. I had to make some room on the remote PC and
wanted to delete an o
