I really don't want to take a step back when I was in fact hoping to be getting a new version of action script that moved the main language even further forward. I feel the same way. I just dislike JS and going from ActionScript to JavaScript is a step back.. a big one. If you know Java, you're in luck 'cos with GWT you can just write Java apps and they get compiled to JS (with html/css) and you still get to use Maven/Spring/Hibernate and do all the OOP stuff and whatnot. You don't have to look at javascript at all, let alone write a single line of it ! As I mentioned earlier, if FlashBuilder would do something similar, I'd be all over it. My sense is that Adobe has realized that it close to impossible to port Flash to the staggering proliferation of tablets, smart phones, and other devices. That's why they have AIR. The move away from Flash by Adobe may (and I'm really guessing here) have to do with Windows 8 and its metro style. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metro_%28design_language%29 In Windows 8 the start screen (desktop) will look like a smart device (with apps). Those are run in a slim (lightweight) browser that does not support plugins. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Windows_8_Developer_Preview_Start_Screen.png When you head off on the internet from one of those apps, you'll be using the metro browser to surf the internet, meaning: no plugins. If you have the time, check out the Win8 videos: http://www.buildwindows.com/ Not sure which one has the browser explanation in it.. sorry. I hope Adobe doesn't give up on FlashBuilder (and AS3/MXML) and hope that moving forward we'll be able to use the same tool to create JS/HTML apps, much like you can do now with Java, GWT and SmartGWT. Re: [flexcoders] Using Flex with server that does authentication
Hello I feel your pain. Just recently we struggled through the same issues. One needs to get very creative to get some real HTTP support out of Flex and/or the browser plugins. There is no way to talk to some generic http/rest server with Flex (perhaps 4 is better, have not tried) The nice thing is that writing this Tomcat filter will proof to be peanuts once you start with it and it does make a lot possible without having to change your application logic. To conclude...you are not missing something obvious as far as I know...that just the way Flex has been working for as long as it exists Peter On 04 Jun 2010, at 16:38, alwayslearningnewstuff wrote: Hi all, I'm building a Flex client for a fully-authenticated server with a REST-like API. All communication with the server will be over SSL/TLS. All requests must be authenticated. What I've discovered, by Googling around and by trying my own code, is that Flex makes things very, very difficult for such a client. The problems all center around the fact that my Basic Auth headers get removed. The only way I've found to get my headers over to the server is by: * Switching from using HTTPService to URLLoader (the former seems to strip all headers, no matter what) * Changing all my GET's to POST's (because headers are always stripped from GET requests) * Adding a dummy body to my POST's so that they don't get turned back into GET's (why, for God's sake?) and have their headers stripped. I also need to upload files --with authentication. Headers are stripped from FileReference.upload() calls also. I'm aware of this bug: https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-1044 It appears that a fix is in the works, which is encouraging, but it completely baffles me that this issue has been ignored for so very long. I also need to display images in my client that are served by my server --with authentication. I have have mx:Image elements with source properties bound to URL's that point to my server. I know of no way to turn these implicit GET requests into POSTs and to then somehow insert my authentication header into them. At this point I'm really feeling beaten down by how difficult this all is. Does nobody else write clients for authenticated servers? This seems so basic. I've been a fan of Flex for years, but this is causing me to question whether it's ready for real-world RIA's. I'm now considering something desperate like trying to write a Tomcat filter that looks for credentials in a URL parameter and manufactures an Authentication header. I don't know Tomcat well, so I'm not sure whether filters can run before authentication is done. If that works, though, I can go back to using my GET requests and solve my problems with upload and image rendering. The fact that we use SSL/TLS would save us here, since the URL parameters containing the credentials would be encrypted along with everything else. Somebody please tell me that I'm missing something obvious. Thanks much

This works well from the command line, but I wanted to make the process easier by creating a web-interface to do this. I have not been able to get the mxmlc compiler to work. After searching on the Web and on this site, I believe that using fcsh (instead of mxmlc) may be the way to go. Using fcsh would certainly compile the .mxml file faster (after the first run), and I think that fcsh can be launched as a service that might be able to be called from PHP. (Using the latest public Flash Builder 4; Flex 4 SDK version: 4.0.0.14159). One of the component is bound to the other's 'text' property through TextConverter.importToFlow. The problem is, after hitting the space key on the keyboard more than once, the whitespace is shown only once on the other RichEditableText component. It seems, the TextConverter.importToFlow stops updating and ignores the second and all subsequent space on the other text component. When we trace the TextConverter.importToFlow(editor.text, TextConverter.TEXT_FIELD_HTML_FORMAT) value, we can see multiple break tags as html, but the component displays only one of them. What are we doing wrong? Is this even possible using the Spark components? Please note that this is not a simple matter of changing to a simple 2-way binding between these two components. Our use case dictates that we use TextConverter.importToFlow as we're working with a server-side model. How to reproduce: 1. Place the cursor between Test Test and hit Backspace on your keyboard. 2. See how the two components now both display TestTest. 3. Place the cursor between TestTest and hit the space key on your keyboard once, hit it twice Now see how the other component stops updating to show the space between Test Test after only the first space. Result: Test Test Expected result (after hitting the space key twice): Test Test on both text fields. RE: [flexcoders] Creating a Flex 4 button skin - need examples
The Spark BitmapImage component only supports embedded images in Flex 4.0. You could use mx:Image instead if you want to use dynamically loaded images, or you could check out Steven Shongrunden's blog post, http://flexponential.com/2010/03/17/using-non-embedded-images-in-a-spark-bitmapimage/ and see if that helps. My question is basically this: How do I create an XML node with a toXMLString() value of: valuea lt;foogt;stringlt;/foogt;/amp;/value from a value of var value:String = a foostring/foo/; Is this really something one is expected to code by hand using RegExp or splitjoin? Isn't this something everybody who needs to send / recieve XML needs to be safe? I just can't find it anywhere. Thanks, Chet. Currently I have a delay loop within a timer event handler, so I should be able to just export a GIF at each step of the cycle. RE: [flexcoders] flex 4 and descendant CSS selectors
If those nested List components consider the mySitesList to be an ancestor in their style chain then it will apply because of the use of a descendant selector. [flexcoders] product selector application
I need to create a product selector application and i wanted to see if anyone had a recommendation on how to approach this. I have a series of checkboxes that will be used to narrow down the recommended product based on a formula. Actually there is more than one formula and the checkboxes are broken up into sections. It seems like I need to parse the XML, then apply filters based on some of the initial checkboxes which is not a problem so far, but then I need to be able to apply more filters to resulting the XML data. Any pointers would be helpful, thanks.

Re: [flexcoders] Gumbo Graphs
I have not used fx:Application before; is it not s:Application? You can use anything to the left of the colon you like, as long as you declare the XMLNS at the top. Sure but I would not ;) 1. I can compile in Flash Builder 4, using the old (2006) mxml namespace (at the application level); switch that out and try to use the new namespace - or a combination of the two, and no dice. It is not expected that you can just change the namespace and compiler and have it work, as far as I am aware. Sorry if I gave the impression that those were my expectations, as they are not. My point, not well made :), is that I believe this is not bugs on Adobe's side - or at least not just bugs on Adobe's side. 2. A bit of scouting pinpoints the issue as being where degrafa has things like Rectangles and Matrix3D, which have equivalents in Flex 4, but are different - in terms of their property names, and sometimes operations. 3. Degrafa do not claim to support Flex 4 - only 3 (and perhaps 2, I cannot remember). I suggest you ask them about their Flex 4 plans then. They probably have a beta program or something. Yes, I will do. I thought of asking the wider community first before going direct there. Cheers Tom. Re: [flexcoders] Gumbo Graphs
Hi Tom, I have not used fx:Application before; is it not s:Application? I am not so sure that it is bugs in Flex 4 that are causing the problem, because: 1. I can compile in Flash Builder 4, using the old (2006) mxml namespace (at the application level); switch that out and try to use the new namespace - or a combination of the two, and no dice. Hence my casting around to try and get a better feel for the situation... RE: [flexcoders] HTTPService HTTPChannel 2032 Channel.Ping.Failed trying to do asimple form post
If you've setup a crossdomain.xml file correctly then there's no need to set useProxy=true for your scenario (you could just leave it as the default, which is false). The HTTPService url property does not appear to be marked with [Bindable] metadata. You can programmatically change its in ActionScript: connectPG.url = urlInput.text; Note: The 'proxy' in useProxy refers to a BlazeDS ProxyService - if you were to use BlazeDS then you'd either need to setup your own ChannelSet programmatically and assign it to your HTTPService instance, or point the compiler to the BlazeDS web application's /WEB-INF/flex/services-config.xml file using the -services option. -Original Message- From: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com [mailto:flexcod...@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of ciminop Sent: Thursday, May 28, 2009 10:14 PM To: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com Subject: [flexcoders] HTTPService HTTPChannel 2032 Channel.Ping.Failed trying to do asimple form post I must be missing something since I'm trying to do something fairly basic. RE: [flexcoders] Re: Eclipse Crashing
Ah - for the second part, go into each of the Flex Library projects' properties panels, look at the Flex Build Path section, then select the Library path tab. Expand the Flex 3 node and look at the *.swc files that are listed (which is effectively your library path for compilation). For example, a Flex project would need playerglobal.swc and framework.swc at a minimum, but other swcs may not be needed so you could try reducing the list to the bare minimum to save memory. RE: [flexcoders] include .as file question.
This is not possible as #include is a compiler directive. It is possible to load a SWF dynamically at runtime with additional classes, but I don't think you can load a new definition for a class that is already defined in an application domain. The following may be a little low level to jump into: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AS3LCR/Flash_10.0/flash/system/LoaderContext.html#applicationDomain So I would search for examples on Flex modules, starting with Alex's blog entry: http://blogs.adobe.com/aharui/2007/03/modules.html Pete -Original Message- From: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com [mailto:flexcod...@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of sailorsea21 Sent: Wednesday, April 08, 2009 9:39 AM To: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com Subject: [flexcoders] include .as file question. RE: [flexcoders] RemoteObject in AS3 Project
While there shouldn't be too many dependencies, I know rpc.swc depends on this class from framework.swc: http://opensource.adobe.com/svn/opensource/flex/sdk/branches/3.x/frameworks/projects/framework/src/mx/messaging/config/LoaderConfig.as ... you could try to mimicking this class and see how far you get? RE: [flexcoders] Re: AIR has different behaviour in XML.appendChild() vs Flex for String values?
https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/SDK-19598 Not a perfect solution, but to help out with your issue of modifying generated code - your generated Service stub should have a method called getWebService() which retuns a subclass of mx.rpc.soap.AbstractWebService. You should be able to set the xmlSpecialCharsFilter property on this web service instance, and that'll trickle down to any Operation's and then to any SOAPEncoders used by these Operations. I'm glad you wrote this up because I thought I was going crazy. In my case, I'm using the FlexBuilder-generated web services client code in AIR. The SOAPEncoder and XMLEncoder classes actually end up double-escaping any XML characters in strings that are being passed up to my web service so a simple character becomes amp;lt;, which is decoded on the other end as lt; instead of as . I can see where it's happening. XMLEncoder.as, line 1784, looks like this: currentChild.appendChild(xmlSpecialCharsFilter(Object(value))); The xmlSpecialCharsFilter is doing the escaping, then appendChild (as your note points out) escapes the string again. Of course, since the problem is too much escaping, pre-escaping the string won't help. The only way around it in XMLEncoder is to replace the xmllSpecialCharsFilter. But in my case, I'm using the FlexBuilder-generated web services code (from Data - Import Web Services). So for now I'm editing that code. Of course that means I have to re-edit the code each time my service changes and I regenerate it. What a pain. Here's what I did, in Baseservicename.call: var enc:SOAPEncoder = new SOAPEncoder(); enc.xmlSpecialCharsFilter = function(value:Object):String {return value.toString()} var soap:Object = new Object; That works, but only in AIR (I assume, not really trying it in Flex). So there's a hacky workaround. But really this should be fixed. At the very least, the FlexBuilder-generated code should be set up to work in either environment. RE: [flexcoders] Re: AIR has different behaviour in XML.appendChild() vs Flex for String values?
You're right, I took a closer look into the generated stub code and in the subclass of AbstractWebService - they've by-passed the usual RPC service/operation behavior and implemented a custom private call() method (and it's in there a new SOAPEncoder is constructed). This service stub really should expose a delegate to the SOAPEncoder. So. I think it's still worth logging a request in Flex Builder for this generated code to be updated in general, but I agree that really SDK-19811 needs to be fixed. (Note: It seems SDK-19598 has become SDK-19811). RE: [flexcoders] swf file size changes from build to build?
I would have to agree with Maciek as on seeing the file size differences I was skeptical it would just be timestamps causing the difference (although the point that the consecutive compiles will not result in the exact same bytes is a valid one). Fotis, I'd be interested if you could investigate whether forcing a clean first before building results in the same file size, where as incremental compilations lead to the larger variants in file size that you're seeing? Have you tried running each differently sized SWF to see if they behave or look different? A guess at what may cause something like this would be a bug during prelink where perhaps a different set of style-mixins are getting linked in. If you could save the different sized SWFs you could use something like SWF Dump to look at the contents to see what was different. I do not know what is going on but in the last couple of days I was adding new bits of code which at some point resulted in the small file - I said cool! RE: [flexcoders] Embedding/visualizing special characters issue
Hey Christian, Make sure there are no null chars 0x00 in the String as the display of such Strings are truncated at the first null char. What version of Flex are you using? Are you using an @font-face to embed your font? If so, can you post a snippet showing the complete @font-face rule? Can you provide the fontsmanagers section of your Flex SDK /frameworks/flex-config.xml? Also, you could try adding -Dtrace.font as JVM args to get the compiler to print out more debug information about embedding fonts while compiling. If you're using mxmlc.exe, you can add these to the java.args property in the /bin/jvm.config file of your Flex SDK. RE: [flexcoders] OS-dependent mxmlc behavior for fonts?
Ah, 2 thing to mention here. 1. In your CSS, instead of using local() (this is only supported by the JREFontManager as it is the only FontManager implementation that has access to your native operating system font server. The reason I suggest not using JREFontManager is that there are issues with the JRE's reporting of font metrics that can lead to layout issues), try using url() and point to the .ttf file itself. Many developers keep fonts in an assets folder with their Flex source and do something like this: src: url(assets/SomeFontICanEmbed.ttf); 2. In order to use the AFEFontManager in /frameworks/flex-config.xml, check that you have the following jars in your Flex SDK's lib directory: /lib/afe.jar /lib/aglj32.jar /lib/rideau.jar If you do not see these files, you may have downloaded the MPL version of the Flex SDK 3.1 (in the column Open Source Flex SDK. If you can, try downloading the non-MPL version (in the column Adobe Flex SDK) to get the complete functionality of Flex SDK 3.1. http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Download+Flex+3 If you must use the MPL version, continue to use the url() syntax in your src: property of your CSS @font-face, rules but rely on the BatikFontManager in /frameworks/flex-config.xml. Pete P.S. Note you can leave the JREFontManager configured in /frameworks/flex-config.xml - you'd just leave it as the base (first) entry so that it can still handle any local() syntax in src: properties of @font-face CSS rules. Any FontManager entry following it will override its behavior for at least url() referenced fonts. For MPL SDK, try: managers manager-classflash.fonts.JREFontManager/manager-class manager-classflash.fonts.BatikFontManager/manager-class /managers For non-MPL, i.e. the full SDK, try: managers manager-classflash.fonts.JREFontManager/manager-class manager-classflash.fonts.AFEFontManager/manager-class /managers -Original Message- From: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com [mailto:flexcod...@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Peldi Guilizzoni, Balsamiq Studios Sent: Wednesday, March 18, 2009 5:37 AM To: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [flexcoders] OS-dependent mxmlc behavior for fonts? RE: [flexcoders] What are the chances Flex could be causing this?
I would have thought that if you were hitting the maximum connections per host limitation then your requests would just queue and take longer to respond. Out of curiosity, how many fail and how many return data? Does the number change? Are the 10 SWFs calling back to the same dev server hosting the SWFs, or are they hitting a different URL? If they are hitting a different URL, can you possibly host your swf on the remote URL and try again (ensuring that the URL used to load the SWF has exactly the same host name as the service being contacted)? You could try testing your theory by modifying the registry to allow IE to make more requests simultaneously, see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282402 You could also try Firefox for comparison? The server logs in place don't show any errors (but I'm just a front-end guy looking at some custom error logs - I could easily be missing something!) - many of the Flex calls are getting rejected. Or could this be a red herring? Perhaps the browser is imposing a limits on the number of connections opened and I can't test things this way. Although not FLV, I wrote a sample AMF 0/AMF 3 client based on flash.utils.ByteArray and flash.net.URLLoader. See my blog entry http://blogs.adobe.com/pfarland/2008/06/using_amf_with_flashneturlload.html which mentions the ActionScript source which was submitted to BlazeDS as an attachment to BLZ-209. See amf.zip at: https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/BLZ-209 For FLV, the key is to understand the Type column for each field. For UI32, use readUnsignedInt() to get a uint For UI24, use 3 successive readUnsignedBytes() and shift values appropriately to form a uint from the 24bits. etc... See: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/fplayer9_security.html For POST requests, the confusion probably arises because it was possible to send Authorization headers in the past, but it was added to the list of restricted headers (I don't have the exact version handy, but it might have been 9.0.124). Re: [flexcoders] AMF instead of XML over http?
ByteArray supports readObject() and writeObject() which read and write objects using AMF. The ByteArray can be written to disc as a file, or sent to a server as a variable (you may have to 7bit- or base64-encode it). Once you have this file, you can load it into your application using any means you like (HTTP/GET, Socket, FileReference,...). Re: [flexcoders] Re: Help Me for SharedObject and registerClassAlias method
I'm not sure what you mean about casting in this context. Also, I guess you meant AMF3 when you said AMF2? (with AMF0/ AS2, you can use Object.registerClass() for the same effect). In AS3, registerClassAlias() is the way to make this work. But, as Braam said, [RemoteClass] is the simplest way: it will insert the registerClassAlias() code for you, so you don't have to worry about where to put it, and will make sure it is ready when you need it. Peter On Mon, Feb 16, 2009 at 4:16 PM, djepyon i...@auricom.com wrote: What you're saying here works, but you can definitely use RegisterClassAlias to get strongly typed objects when storing/retrieving data from a SharedObject or anything else AMF2 based (LocalConnection for example). If you load a class at run-time, and a class already exists in the same application domain, with the same qualified name, then the class will be skipped and the first one that was loaded will be used. [flexcoders] QTP Build Issue
Hi, I am having difficulties building a QTP-enabled application via the Ant mxmlc/compc tasks. The structure of the project is a Library Project (Common.swc) and a Main Flex Application (Main.swf), which links to the Library Project. Building the application using Flex Builder (including the four automation/QTP libraries) produces a SWF around 1.8MB is size, which is recognised by QTP. Running the same build via an Ant script, produces a SWF around 1.1MB in size, which is not recognised by QTP as a Flex Application (only a MacromediaFlashPlayerActiveX object). Below are the four different builds and their results: Flex Builder (No Automation) Common.swc - 1.5MB Main.swf - 1.1MB Flex Builder (Automation) Flex Compiler arguments: -include-libraries automation/qtp.swc automation/automation.swc automation/automation_agent.swc automation/automation_dmv.swc Common.swc - 2.8MB Main.swf - 1.8MB - Recognised in QTP Ant (No Automation) compc output=Common\Common.swc include-classes=${compc.classes} include-file=${compc.assets} source-path path-element=Common\src / library-path dir=${libs.dir} append=true include name=*.swc / /library-path /compc mxmlc file=Main\Main.mxml output=Bin\Main.swf source-path path-element=Main\src / library-path dir=${libs.dir} append=true include name=*.swc / /library-path library-path file=Common\Common.swc append=true/ /mxmlc Common.swc - 1.5MB Main.swf - 1.1MB Ant (Automation) compc output=Common\Common-automation.swc include-classes=${compc.classes} include-file=${compc.assets} source-path path-element=Common\src / library-path dir=${libs.dir} append=true include name=*.swc / /library-path include-libraries dir=${automation.dir} append=true include name=automation.swc / include name=automation_agent.swc / include name=automation_dmv.swc / include name=qtp.swc / /include-libraries /compc mxmlc file=Main\Main.mxml output=Bin\Main-automation.swf source-path path-element=Main\src / library-path dir=${libs.dir} append=true include name=*.swc / /library-path library-path file=Common\Common-automation.swc append=true/ include-libraries dir=${automation.dir} append=true include name=automation.swc / include name=automation_agent.swc / include name=automation_dmv.swc / include name=qtp.swc / /include-libraries /mxmlc Common-automation.swc - 2.8MB Main-automation.swf - 1.1MB - Not recognised in QTP I have successfully used Ant to build QTP-enabled applications in the past, although never with a linked SWC. Re: [flexcoders] Store local data
I don't think we'll see SQL Lite in the Flash player for web anytime soon due to the security problems it could create. Have you considered pulling the auto suggest content in when the application starts and / or in the background? The only other option that comes to mind is have the server page generate an XML document and have that downloaded in to the users browser cache maybe and pull the data from there? Depending on how often that data changes you could have the server generate the XML document at intervals or when the application is loaded perhaps, I think a server should be able to handle the load depending on the amount of users at any given time. RE: [flexcoders] flex application is not loading under HTTPS
Did you try to run an HTTP sniffer on your client and enable it with MSIE to capture the raw HTTP response that is the result of the GET to load the SWF? You really need to get that information first. How can i solve this problem? The same code is working under DEV env under HTTP. somebody is saying it is bcos of javascript errors, Is javascript errors stop loading the SWF? Please help me on this. Look to see if any no-cache headers are being returned. Also try to determine if chunked encoding is being used with gzip compression (as this combination can be a problem for MSIE). Pete

RE: [flexcoders] Re: Base64Encoder / Base64Decoder
What do you want to do with Base64? I might be able to point you at an example. I've also logged a bug for documentation to ask them to provide examples in these classes (note this, and commenting on the live docs, is a better way to get the doc team's attention). https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FLEXDOCS-509
RE: [flexcoders] Re: Base64Encoder / Base64Decoder
Just curious, where'd folks see the decoder docs talk about a toString()? Base64Decoder's primary use is to decode to a ByteArray so it has a toByteArray() method. If you wanted to construct a String from this ByteArray you'd need to know the charset encoding used in the bytes. But it looks like that method simply got left out of the decoder class. Add it in just like in the encoder and things aren't as confusing (although I'd argue that using the toString() method to retrieve the result is an inherently confusing way to use the classes). Doug
Re: [flexcoders] Trying to refine inline itemrenderer prompt to state based image loading
Thanks Tracy. I will take your take your advice. The result will be much cleaner than the quick fix approach I was trying to use - even if I could have got it working. I am not that clear on the item renderer lifecycle (I am pretty new to flex), but will soon learn the specifics. Perhaps someone else will be able to give you a simple solution, but… Build a full renderer class that overrides set data() and uses invalidation with commit Properties() and updateDisplayList( ). If you are an item renderer component lifecycle expert, you can start from scratch, otherwise, *find an example*. Any data that affects the row/item-level state you will need to store in the dataProvider, or elsewhere. For example, the start index of your image list. The set data function must cause that index value to be retreived from wherever you stored it, and then use invalidation to ensure that the “load next 11” functionality gets called using that index. All this is necessary because renderers are recycled. This mean creationComplete only fires once, and anything not set using the above data/invalidation mechanism will randomly display when you scroll. (Changing the state prompts imageRend to start retrieving related images, and 'loaded' swaps out a placer image with the required one.) So far so good, but what I really want to do is load up the first few images, and then react to user clicks (hence the 'inView' reference) to load up further images i.e. 13 onwards. I have tried traversing, using the objects parent property, and then getChildAt/getChild Index combinations, as a basis for finding the current position + 12, but I am just guessing and its getting me nowhere. Thanks for any help in advance.

Thanks Alex, I will take a look through those as a starting point. - Original Message From: Alex Harui [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com flexcoders@yahoogroups.com Sent: Thursday, 18 September, 2008 19:18:47 Subject: RE: [flexcoders] Trying to refine inline itemrenderer prompt to state based image loading Read the itemrenderer posts on my blog (blogs.adobe. com/aharui) . Renderers get recycled and only enough renderers to display the visible items are created, so using creationCOmplete is rarely useful. [flexcoders] Java or C# from Flex
Hi All, I need pointing in the right direction. I have done some searching about Flex and Java and have not got the answers I am looking for yet. I have a conversion library that I can deploy as C# or Java for converting HL7 result data and inserting that data to a database and I want to be able to run that from flex. Is this possible? Where would be a good place to learn more about how to do this? Thanks Peter Cross
RE: [flexcoders] Bizarre XML data transformation
How are you loading the XML? HTTPService? If so, have you set resultFormat=e4x?
RE: [flexcoders] Date issue - need to create date out of string like xxxx-xx-xx from XML
Josh, have you logged bugs for specific issues with SOAP date unmarshalling? Pete From: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Josh McDonald Sent: Tuesday, September 16, 2008 2:05 AM To: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [flexcoders] Date issue - need to create date out of string like -xx-xx from XML I don't actually use that code I posted above, as all our dates come in via SOAP, for which Flex's unmarshaller is even worse :) I like the strict checking you can do with a regex. Dates are an awful touchy subject in this business. -Josh
RE: [flexcoders] Cannot unmarshall
Unfortunately you cut off the most important part - what do the namespaces in the schema map to? They may be declared on the wsdl definitions root tag or the schema tag, but it's not clear from your post what the S2 namespace prefix maps to... I'm guessing that it is (incorrectly) the XML Schema 1.0 namespace which is not expected by Flex's XML Schema marshaller (it only expects actual XML Schema types in this namespace!). -Original Message- From: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Alban Sent: Thursday, September 11, 2008 5:09 AM To: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com Subject: [flexcoders] Cannot unmarshall Hello *, we've got a problem with flex builder 3 (Version: 3.0.194161) and a generated webservice.
