of mv), and it seems to work well so far during the couple months
I have been working on it. Like I said, I post it here in case
anyone else may find it useful and to learn from any criticisms,
comments and suggestions it might generate.

I'm on win 2000 using fdimage.exe from ftp.freebsd.org to make the
kern.flp and mfsroot.flp images to install, but apparently 2000 dosent
like fdimage.exe cause it throws an illegal operation, any ideas or
suggestions? And no, I dont have any 95, 98, ME boxes.

I get the error:

In /dev I see an entry for da0s1 and da0s1c but no entry for da0s1d.
Any help in determining what I have missed?

I went back and tried the whole partitioning process again following the
instructions EXACTLY as laid out in section 16.3.1 of the FreeBSD handbook
and it worked this time.

I'm using 6.2-R on a Dell PE400SC.
I recently enabled Remote Wake Up (Wake on LAN) in BIOS. Sending a
magic packet to the powered down PC will power it up and it boots
normally. However, now if I attempt a shutdown and power off using
halt -p or shutdown -p now I get a reboot. Disabling

I need some help getting WOL working.
I have two boxes with Freebsd 6.2 and WOL doesn't work on either one.
Both have capable Intel NICs (pro/100 and pro/1000) and capable PC

Actually all my nfs servers are diskless except for the
data and boot off of boot servers using PXE. The boot servers have
vinumed system disks.

I'm making a MAME cabinet and I'm starting to evaluate as much

I've got 3 devices that I would like to consolodate.
Box A - IPFW/Nat gateway for corporate use.
Box B - Squid/Dansguardian content filter (my use)
Box C - Qmail/vpopmail (multiple domain) mailhub
All three boxes are at separate locations.

I believe that acd0 would be your CD Rom drive. I don't know what the
error means, but it appears to have something to do with the CD system.

clue me in on what types of laptop NICs work with FBSD?
My TP R30 has an Intel NIC, picked up by FreeBSD with the fxp driver.

When trying to upgrade/install QT3.1 to 3.2 I get an install error. This is
what it gives me. Sorry for the length of this but I'm not sure what's useful and
what's not. Can someone look at this and maybe give me an idea of what I need to do
to fix this? Thanks.
I did
server for my clients using Cyrus:
http://www.jtan.com/doc/imapd/. fetchmail forwards to sendmail; sendmail
is configured to hand messages over to Cyrus.
