IMHO, fdisk is unnecessary. I got my two brand
new HDs ad[46] mirrored w/o fdisk.

Great doc, thanks! I was able to get the first part of the 2nd approach
booting from the gm0 mirror, but after booting and trying to add my da0
to the mirror, it does not recognize the device.
