Hi, Thanks. I appreciate being let know that. I have as I said removed the file and as I said didn't see from the installer it was bad. I was not atempting piracy, I certainly can't program an installer, I was simply atempting to assist a list member in obtaining directx 10. Dave On 11/6/11,

Hi Dark, Only some of the newer DirectX components like XAudio, Xaudio2, and XInput will run on Windows XP. All of the graphical components like Direct3D 10 and Direct3D 11 require Windows Vista or Windows 7. The latest version of DirectX that will run on Windows XP is June 2010. Its a mixture of

Hi Dark, That's because DirectX 10, IE Direct3D 10, was never officially released for Windows XP. Same for DirectX 11 components like Direct3D 11. They specifically require Windows Vista or higher to run. As for DirectX 9.0C the version number is a bit of a misnomer. It actually contains a

Hi Dark, Direct3D 10 is not available for download because it ships with Windows Vista by default. The Direct3D 10 components are now apart of the core Windows APIs, and updates can be gotten through Windows update or through service packs. Since you are not running Vista you can't get it through

Hi, I'm not sure I would do that honestly. Microsoft never officially supported XP with DirectX 10 and DirectX 11, and although I've heard of hacked copies floating around I don't know how stable they are. Bottom line, XP is out of date and instead of people fighting the obvious problem they

Hi Dark, Smile. Well then, I have some very bad news for you. DirectX 10 only comes preinstalled with Windows Vista. DirectX 11--which I am running--only comes preinstalled with Windows 7. So your only two choices are upgrade Windows or do without. Microsoft has no plans to fully port DirectX 10

Hi all, I just checked out Dave's DirectX patch for XP. There are two things you probably should know before downloading. Number one, it is a pirated copy and therefore probably is illegal seeing as it is a pirated version of DirectX 10. Number two, this is a release candidate version, IE a beta

Hi Dave, I'm afraid not. I'm not kidding. I wasn't aware of DirectX 10's legal status until I looked it up. That's why I didn't make a bit deal of piracy on list as I was unaware of the legality of redistributing DirectX 10 components myself until I checked. Basically, from what I gather because
