Hi, Yeah, I have a Soundmax in my Ubuntu Linux desktop. I don't do a lot of gaming on it so the sound card serves my purposes quite nicely. One thing I can say for the Soundmax AC-97 cards is that they work with practically every OS I've tried them in. I've tried various Linux brands,

yeah its funny. When I had the crappy soundmax I wanted something better something like a realtech ac97. Now I have the stripped down hd version and I can't actually use it to record in stereo mix with the mic on which really is a crout. I do have a system that has soundmax but I need to

Hi, Well, Personally, I don't think anything comes close to the Soundblaster X-/FI. I am personally fond of that sound card, and the cheaper sound cards like the AC-97 are, well, cheap to me. However, I do use the AC-97 in my Linux boxes because Linux seams to like those cards for some reason.

Well I get the cheap cards with my laptops and desktops because they are internal about themselves. A nice no frills card is the soundmax. its not much but its ok. I have an sb16 also. The last card that I have had that was a pci card was a forte media fm801. Its a pitty that toshiba are not

Hmmm. its not that bad anymore with driver upgrades. A friend of mine recons its because I always use my card. To be fair i here it on speech, on some games but not actual sounds or music. and its worse on headphones probably because these are close to my ears. And its only round when I type

No tom its a realtech hd on a laptop. there are standard drivers for it but my toshiba download site does not have the latest and judging with all the crashes I had after upgrading last time, I suspect that the drivers I have are specially designed for this laptop as there are no new updates

Hi all. I usually don't post a big thing like this but feel I must. I have played terraformers and mudsplat on my high def card. While its true that this card has its share of crackles etc with speech, and other things. Well most games work well. the bavisoft games crackle but not to badly.
