Hi Josh,
Jim Kitchen's games can be made to run on Windows 8.1, but its tricky.
Not only do you have to install the Winkit for VB 6 backwards
compatibility support, but I have discovered you should install the
games locally to your User directory not to c:\Program Files or
c:\Program Files (x86)
guess I'll stick with windows7 then at least for now.

hi,
In a manner of speaking. Advanced Setup Installer has a GUI to build
setup files by dragging and dropping files in the IDE, dialogs to
create icons, dialogs to configure installation settings, etc. No
scripting required. So if you consider that a wizard yes. However, it
is just another tool
Does advanced setup have a wizard?

Hi Shaun,
Personally, I
hmmm well thats easy to fix.
if I had all the files and stuff I could probably create a single
installer for everything, with innosetup.
then we wouldn't have to bother with extra downloads
though I only run xp here to.

Hi Thomas,
I am not positive that my games need to go into the program files x86 folder.
And I am not sure why they did. But that did explain why people were
installing my games and finding nothing but the game of life.
But yes, I plan to put that bit of help up on my site.

Hi Shaun,
Personally, I think that Inno Setup is fine as far as it goes, but it
is not really the best solution for software installations. Right now
I'm considering switching to Microsoft Advanced Setup Installer
because it is an advanced installer as the name says. The Advanced
Setup Installer
hmmm is this a free installer?
with innosetup there are addons you can add though its really just a
low level installer.
I am using several things to run an installer it supposedly can do
64bit but you are right its not much better than that.

Hi Shaun,
Smile. Are you kidding? Since when does Microsoft give good stuff away for free?
In answer to your question Microsoft's Advanced Setup Installer is a
commercial product. Not only do you have to buy it the software is
fairly expensive. It comes packaged with the Pro/Enterprise versions

Hi Ryan,
Yes, you can use Inno Setup's Pascal scripting to pretty much do what
Advanced Setup Installer does, but you have to do a bunch of extra
scripting where MSI allows you to bring up a dialog box check some
checkboxes, click ok, and your done. I think it is ten times easier
that way, but

Hi Josh,
This may sound like a dense question, but did you install the Winkit
setup file? That installs various VB 6 compatibility libraries for
Jim's games and are absolutely essential on Windows 7 since the OS no
longer comes with them.

Hi Lelia,

to doing it properly. I myself initially thought it was impossible until
I figured out that User Account Control management doesn't care if
