Hi, I tried to upgrade to the latest version of gimp and it would not install.
I tried going back to the previous version but that would not install so now I
can not use gimp anymore. A real shame as it is such a good program. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I put both layerfx.py and layerfx28.py in the zip. If using Gimp 2.8.x then
layerfx28.py with layer groups works OK. For Gimp 2.10 layerfx28.py is broken in

How can I install Gimp 2.8.10 (Windows 7 64bit) to a drive other than "C" - I

I can't seem to find any mention in the on line manual nor is there the option

Possibly not under Windows XP; depending on the system it may work fine
on the same machine but under a GNU/Linux™ operating environment, for
example.

I did this myself; 2.6 x86 after 2.8 x64 onto w7 x64.
It even remembered all my old settings for 2.6.12, but forgot my most recently
opened xcf files. I don't know if it will work with the same target machine
type though, I suppose you might be able to select a different install

Install 2.6 after you've installed 2.8.
