Sorry being naughty :)) But the only thing I had to install by hand was
xfree 4.2.1 and apparently here a different library has been used.
Appaerently the new fontconfig is installed in /usr/x11r6/lib and the
one installed bij xfree in /usr/lib. Can I fix this with symbolic link ?

For technical reasons I haven't been able to use my tablet for a long
time, and the last time I tried it just didn't work.
With the current releases of Xorg / LinuxWacom / Gimp everything seems
to work fine.

I get the same problems while trying to build Gegl on Fedora 9.
I seem to get good results by building Gegl 0.18 on Fedora 8, and then
install it in Fedora 9.

I've made a complete set of RPMs available for Fedora 8 and Fedora 9.

These kits contain a build error due to a known bug (not mine). This
bug could lead to Gimp crashes when trying to import PDF documents.

Fedora is catching up quickly. GIMP 2.6.4 is now available from the
official Fedora (testing) F10 and F9 repositories:

Lossless resizing? How do you envision that?
-- Johan

No, it is just like the GIMP: it reads (hence decompresses) the image
and recompresses it when saving.
For lossless manipulation, use jpegtran and jhead. Of course,
cropping, flipping and rotating by right angles only.

I would have expected this to be the task of the operating system, not
