[hlds] Mandatory TF2 update released

We've released a mandatory update for TF2. The notes for the update are below. 
The new version number is 2369699.

- Fixed rockets colliding with other projectiles and getting stuck in the world 
- Fixed a bug with the Soldier's Fresh Brewed Victory taunt and the Power Up 
Canteen
- Fixed the Demoman not being able to equip The Grandmaster
- Fixed a bug where Professional Killstreak items were being displayed as 
Specialized
- Market Listings for Specialized Killstreak kits for the following items have 
been removed and will need to be relisted
- Stickybomb Launcher, Minigun, Direct Hit, Huntsman, Backburner, Back 
Scatter, Kritzkrieg, Ambassador, Frontier Justice
- Fixed character audio being cut short when characters clap during the Conga 
taunt
- Unusual taunts that are tradable can now be listed on the Steam Community 
Market
- The Classic can now accept Enemies Gibbed strange parts
- The Manmelter can now accept Allies Extinguished strange parts
- Added mp_spectators_restricted server convar
- Prevents players on Red/Blue from joining team Spectator if 
it would exceed mp_teams_unbalance_limit
- Updated the HTML display in the MOTD to use shared Steam browser control
- Updated the materials for The Dalokohs Bar
- Updated the equip_region for the Soldier's Stash, Exquisite Rack, The Pencil 
Pusher, and Antlers
- Updated the localization files
- Updated pl_cactuscanyon

All 3 of my accounts/computers are all now launching in insecure mode after
update. This has happened at least once a month for the past 3 or 4 months.
It requires me to reinstall Steam in every instance to fix it. Why does
this happen?

Why after all these years would you change the SteamID format? Why wouldn't
you at least give people a warning before you made such a drastic change?

This is really bad. Why would they literally screw every single server
admin in one swoop like that. No notice no way to convert old ids to new.
Break every single admin tool ect.

This is right, and the old steam2 format is still accepted by the engine (so

It's simple. The old SteamID was STEAM_0:X:Y. Just do Y*2+X and you have
the new one.
e.g. STEAM_0:1:1337 = 1337*2+1= 2675 = [U:1:2675]

STEAM_0:0:523696. My new is U:1:1047392.

- The MOTD is borked, click something that pops up a new window, e.g. a
Flash video, and it will popup the same page twice instead of going to the
correct link.

- Insecure mode is another problem I'm also encountering.

Every account I launch comes up in insecure mode. Reinstalling Steam
doesn't even fix it this time. Game unable to be launched in any way.
Validated files, even re-installed TF2.

complaining about the steamid change and 1 tweet saying that
everything relying on steamids(like sourcemod) is broken.

It seems the steam2 format is still able to be read. I assume then all
Sourcemod will need to do is update their getclientsteamid fucntions to get
the old ID.

No, U:1 pretty means much what STEAM_0 was, it's Public universe AFAIK.
It'll always be U:1. The X and Y values are only part of the latest number.

We apologize for the lack of warning regarding the SteamID format change in 
today's update. It was our intent to give the community a heads-up before the 
change was released, but it was missed. 

The change was made to update TF2 to use the current SteamID format, which most 
other games on Steam and Steam itself uses. You will find that you can now use 
SteamIDs rendered by these other locations in your interactions with the 
engine. The engine will still recognize the old format, though, so your current 
server ban lists should still be valid.

The conversion equation has already been posted by a community member, but here 
it is again:

Old:STEAM_0:A:B
New:[U:1:B*2+A]
Example:STEAM_0:1:1234  ---[U:1:2469]

We're sorry for the problems this may cause while you update your scripts to 
use the new format. It was not our intent to disrupt your servers.

I would, however, implore the TF2 dev team to actively engage the Sourcemod
dev team and give them advanced notice of any future major changes (like
you guys always used to do, which was a great environment to participate
in) such as porting TF2 to Source 2, etc.

The way you helped us transition to Steampipe should be the model here - we
all worked together, and that rollout went about as smooth as could be ;-)

Yeah, mistakes can happen easily, well thanks for the update on that (Steam
ID). That's one of the bugs acknowledged in this update, just needs the
other bug acknowledging/fixing (which happened when the HTML MOTD started
sharing the Steam browser control) then all is well again hopefully.

Many of us who use sourcebans can use this as a temporary fix:

1. disable your sourcebans plugin by renaming it to sourcebans.smx-disabled

2. verify that tf/addons/sourcemod/configs/admins.cfg contains all your current 
admins and reserved-slot holders etc.

3. place the script (below) into the /tf/addons/sourcemod/configs/ directory, 
name it fix.php, change to that directory on your command line, and execute 
the script with php fix.php  admins-new.cfg

4. check that it worked... look at the admins-new.cfg and compare it to 
admins.cfg to see if the conversion worked.

5. delete your admins.cfg and rename admins-new.cfg to admins.cfg and restart 
your server.

That will, at least, give your admins back their powers.

To clarify, in SourceMod, our plan for the stable branch is to make the 
admin system and GetClientAuthString function behave as if the change 
never took place.


The development branch will still as-is at the moment. Longer term, we 
plan to rework things to not be able to be hampered by format changes 
like this.

What is going on with the insecure issue client side? I still can't get
into any of my servers because every account on every computer I have is
getting a message 'You are in insecure mode. You must restart before you
can connect to secure servers. I have restarted, validated, reinstalled
steam, reinstalled tf2, restarted my servers, validated my servers, and
even went as far as re-installing an entire server.

Back up the configuration files you care about and then use the
information in this thread to delete the files stored in the Steam Cloud
for TF2.

It's possible something in your configuration is causing this issue, and
reverting to entirely default configuration is the easiest way to
eliminate that possible cause.

 All 3 of my accounts/computers are all now launching in insecure mode after 
 update. This has happened at least once a month for the past 3 or 4 months. 
 It requires me to reinstall Steam in every instance to fix it. Why does this

I'm not seeing anything like that... The latest stable branch I see is 
1.6.2-git4558, and that's from May 26th 2014.
