Getting the same freezing issues. Running gentoo, kernel 2.6.31 on a
quad core Xeon X3460. 32 player server, tried with and without

Valve just broke their master server dns (hl2master.steampowered.com). It

about A2S_INFO DDOS attacks. I have mistakenly posted a *fix* on the list
for *nix servers which I should have posted here.
In short:
If your server gets ddosed with A2S_INFO packets, it will get really laggy.

The rare crashbug we experienced before now became a rare stall bug. The
process no longer crashes, but stalls.
The stall is still at the same point as the crash

left in the -autoupdate option, so the server restarts on changemap and made
a custom crontab script, that updates game every hour... this speeds up
things and server doesn't get empty on every update
