Title: Hauppauge PVR-150MCE
Hi there,
I have been attempting to follow the helpful advice available to get my TV card working with MythTV 0.17. So far I have had no success at all getting any TV input whatsoever. I have attempted to do a make install of the ivtv driver version 0.3.2.h but r

Title: Ivtv with PVR-150MCE PAL
Hi,
Well it looks like things are closer but I only get static when I do a capture from /dev/video0. I have tried switching through all the channels using
/usr/lib/ivtv/ptune-ui.pl and
/mplayer -vo xv /dev/video0
Nothing but static and no sound. I have a
I am trying to capture from Saturn TV (cable) here in New Zealand and the
only way I seem able to get a picture is from the composite output from the
cable box. All attempts to get any kind of picture from the tuner input on
my card output from the cable box's RF output result in static. Although I
Yes, this is the best I can get from my PVR150MCE but only using the
composite input. The tuner input gives nothing but static.
I'm also using the 0.3.2p driver in a PAL country (New Zealand).
Sorry I can't be more helpful...
Cheers,
Rick

Thanks Chris - Followed this through step by step, also changing VBI setup
to 'None' rather than 'PAL-NZ' from mythtvsetup as Haukur suggested.
I now have a clear picture from my PVR150-MCE on the composite input -
Hurrah!
Sadly, very weak, poor quality audio - I have to crank the amp that audio
Title: IVTV options info please
Hi can anyone point me at some doco on the ivtv options used in various modprobe.conf examples? E.g the recent post from from mrwester included the following modprobe.conf setiings:
alias char-major-61 lirc_i2c
alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-8
Also - could you post your modprobe.conf settings?
I used to have those 'tuner not set messages' until I put 'options ivtv
ivtv_debug=1 tuner=58,58,58,58 tda9887=0,0' into my modprobe.conf although
I'm confused as to why I need 58 repeated or why I need it at all seeing as
the driver seems to detec

Title: Modprobe options for PVR-150
I have read and followed a lot of the collected wisdom from everyone on the list concerning getting the above card working in my machine. There appears to be two basic schools of thought:
1. Jarod's recommended approach - minimal modprobe.conf settings, e.
I was getting this exact same problem with a PVR150 and it all burst into

options cx25840 i2c_enable=1 no_black_magic=1
options tda9887=0

I struggled with this too until I realised that
Myth appeared to be re-setting the resolution. I could get a good
picture using ivtvctl to set the resolution and mplayer to view the output from
/dev/video0 but in Myth, the picture was always cut off on the
right.
You need to go into the myth
Hi,
Just adding my 2 cents worth - I have 0.3.3e installed with a PAL
PVR150-MCE, type 58 tuner and get good video and tinny sound that is like
someone talking down a tube. Prior to 0.3.3e I was using 0.3.2q and the
sound was good.
I have had sound since adding the qss=0 option to modprobe.conf -
Looks like its trying to load the kernel ivtv drivers instead of the new
ones. Try renaming
/lib/modules/2.6.11-1.14_FC3/updates/drivers/media/video/ivtv.ko to
/lib/modules/2.6.11-1.14_FC3/updates/drivers/media/video/ivtv.ko.org then
unload and reload ivtv:
/sbin/rmmod ivtv
/sbin/modprobe ivtv
Ch
I have now got Myth displaying a good picture and clear sound using the
0.3.3x driver with kernel 2.6.10-1.770_FC3 on a PAL PVR-150MCE. I'm pretty
sure that things improved when I put less stuff in my modprobe.conf. It now
looks like this:
# New PVR150-MCE Settings
alias char-major-81 videodev

I am seeing the following errors in /var/log/messages on loading the ivtv driver (0.3.3x) with my PVR-150MCE (PAL LG S001D MK3 Tuner type 58):

Hi,
I'm also experiencing this problem - started with 0.3.6m and persists with
0.3.6p. I'm in New Zealand (PAL B) and I'm using the composite input to the
card from a cable STB. My card is a PVR-150MCE. Excerpt from
