Actually, whether the Web interface is accessible to screen reader users or
not depends on the design of the interface. What the printer provides is
indeed just a Web page (or a series of Web pages). There's a small Web server
in the printer.

Ditto Brother printers. After being a loyal HP customer for nearly two
decades, two or three years ago I had two HP printers die on me in quick

Just about any Epson printer or Hewlett-Packard printer would be just fine.
It's not the printer as much, as it is the web interface to that printer. Since
the web interface it just like a webpage, it should be perfectly acceptable
using jaws.

I believe that you can make any printer the default. I was under the
impression that the usb will be faster.

Why would you want USB, when everyone can use wireless, including you?
I could be wrong but if you have both USB and wireless, you'll have to
choose the USB or wireless network each time you print, but if you
choose wireless, it will be the default.

I had my previous HP printer set up with USB for me and wireless for my wife
and it was fine. With my new Brother I chose to go wireless and everything
works just as well as with a cable.

Anna,
Can't you hear the printer positioning the printing head when you first
start your computer? if not, then it may be that the printer is not
connected. The easiest thing would be to try printing something and see what
happens.

I've had issues like this, generally something happens with an HTML file.
It causes Jaws to freeze. Either there'll be a dialog that Jaws has had a
problem and needs to close, or I'll hear nothing.
I can't restart Jaws, even doing the Jaws dump command doesn't unload Jaws
in this case.
My
Thanks, at least I am not the only one who has had these problems.
I will try some different things next time...

Hi.
It almost sounds like you have the wrong driver.
I would go to the printers website and download the drivers from there.
That way you also have the latest drivers.

First, make sure your printer is being recognized. Hit control P and tab
through the various options until you come to the one that should announce
what printer you have. If that printer is not listed, there is your problem
perhaps; the computer is not recognizing your printer.
Also, make sure
