Re: Supplying as pdfs.
My pdfs are very large and I have no idea how I can send such a large file.
Also there is the problem of scale. The majority of domestic printers will
not print the prickings the exact size. How do I prevent someone from relaying
her pdf to someone else? At least with a
I am very interested in this initiative, an internet group of authors to
exchange ideas on the respect of printing and other areas as copyright.

Would a pdf saved on a read-only cd format work? There must be
protective software available otherwise the coupon sites that restrict

The Intro book was listed in Louise C's bibliography, hence my search.

Paypal would be an excellent solution to payment. The problem is the
unscrupulous. We want the author to be paid the royalty, at least. Copying
of books and prickings has been around since Xerox was first a company, but

Hi All,
In regard to pricking size, I would love it if the designers would
constantly use a scale beside their prickings, or give the dimensions of the
pricking so we could more accurately represent the design they have created.
This is one of the nice points about Janice Blair's prickings and a
On the whole lacemakers are honest people.
Quite true. But no group is free of dishonest members. See the unscrupulous
vendor of a memory stick with 20 scanned books on it. In this situation it
only takes one.

Sorry, I try to trim my posts before I write, so I don't forget, so in that

That is what I do with my books. But it is a question of who owns the
copyright, and whether a contract with a publisher gave them the sole right to
disseminate. Some authors sell the copyright to the printer, as well as
handing over the text.

I solved the problem of huge pdf files by breaking the books up into parts.
My torchon lesson book has 2 parts, both between 4 and 5 mb. My torchon
pattern book is in 4 parts, each about 5-7 mb. I send each part attached to a
separate email. If the files are larger, some servers shut down
Alex
I forgot to say, there are ways to get the printer and software to print the
patterns at exact size. I create my files in microsoft WORD. For an image
you can specify the exact size the image should appear, in millimeters, and
you can tell the software to absolutely maintain that size.

If one puts the book onto a read only cd, you can't print the patterns, and
the patterns are the point.

I'd like to chime in on the printing issue.
A problem can occur if the pdf pages are A4, and the print paper is North
American letter size, but most print software gives the option of printing
at original size. It will mean the bottom or top of the page is cut off,
not a sacrifice unless a crucial
