Just back from Portugal, and visited both Via do Conde and Peniche.
Unfortunately the school in Via do Conde was closed on the Saturday that I
went, but the handicrafts shop around the corner had lots of lace and
lacemaking equipment. Picked up some nice pieces and also a huge Portugese
bolster

After three days of installation, my lace exhibition is finally up in Los
Alamos, New Mexico. 98 pieces of lace are on display dating from the mid 16th
century to about a month ago. I also have 36 bobbinlace pillows (3 more to
come) on display, 2 needlelace pillows, and 17 bobbin winders. There
I recently bought a nice piece on Ebay: 160255127859 (although the condition
isn't as nice a the picture in the rest of the piece, but that's OK).
This kind of lace is difficult to place; it was made in several countries and
there are documented sample books in France showing it goes back to the

We've known for some time that there's a major Japanese lace buyer out
there, but very little information has come through. A very serious buyer,

with Carolina de la Guardia at the lace museum in Arenys del Mar. I'll write

The Las Conchas fire started in the Jemez mountains at 1:00 on Sunday, and
is a few miles away from Los Alamos where I live. Evacuations are voluntary
at the time, but everyone is waiting for the winds to pick up this afternoon
to see what will happen. I put up a photo on LaceNews that I took

The Los Alamos townsite was opened at 8AM this morning, and the refugees are
slowly coming back. One of the other cars with my lace has appeared, and
everything there and in my house is just fine! All the firefighters and
National Guard and Red Cross people were lined up outside of town waving
So I signed up for YouTube with LaceNews, and suddenly I have a YouTube
channel! They call it Lacenews's Channel (hopefully I can adjust that
title a bit, still learning how this works).
I've been searching YouTube for every lace-related video I can find, and
organizing them into playlists on
Just a short update - I now have 969 lacemaking videos organized into 50
playlists on the LaceNews Channel on YouTube. The top playlists are:
Tatting390 videos (I'm not really a tatter, but someone asked for it.
You can only have 200 videos in a playlist, so tatting is split into 2
