I've been totally out of touch with the world for several weeks (birdwatching
in Israel) but with the aid of newsnow I think I've just about caught up on all
the squad additions.
I did manage to catch the Derby match, and I apologise if I am repeating
anything, but my brief conclusions were:
Becchio is neither as good as some people (and a lot of folk who have never
seen him play, as has been said) think, nor as bad as Walker makes him out to
be.
He is a striker of limited skills who puts himself about a lot, does a
reasonable job at bringing others into the game, gets a few

FWIW, my view was that Paynter played rather as one might expect; a bit rusty
and lacking sharpness early on, but gradually improving as the game wore on
(then needing to be subbed just about when he was.) Sadly, I felt his lack of
