This has nothing to do with JabRef, but with the bibliographystyle that you are
using. You could try a german one (look e.g. here: http://www.haw-hamburg.de/
pers/Lorenzen/bibtex/) or use the bibgerm-package. See also the German FAQ

In the Pdf file the links are created in the table of contents and also
for the references in the text. But the problem is that all the links
have boxes around them.
You know that the boxes are not printed? -- so the printed pdf file has
no color, but the links can still be used when read on screen.
i tired citebordercolor option as above and also
linkbordercolor=1 1 1 and colorlinks=false option but the it has no
effect on the ouput. Also the bookmarks it not created.
If you want to have colored links you have to set colorlinks=true (and
maybe change the linkcolor, urlcolor etc. if the standard values are not
what you want). If you want to have links, but black text without boxes,
you have to set colorlinks=false and pdfborder={0 0 0} (i.e. a white box
around the link, which is not visible on white paper) or colorlinks=true
and linkcolor=black.

I would like to either have the embraced entrances treated equally to the

In JabRef
I just looked into it again. If you don't need the double braces, JabRef
offers an option to automatically remove them when you load a file. In
German it's Optionen - Einstellungen - Beim Laden doppelte
geschweifte Klammern um BibTeX-Felder entfernen. If you activate this
option, load your .bib file, and save it, the double brackets should
have gone.

I think so. biblatex treats some fields in another way, e.g. 'edition',
which should contain only numerals, or 'address', which can cope with
lists like London and New York and ... in order to abbreviate the list
if necessary. Most of these fields should also work if the expected data
type is different, e.g. 'address = {London, New York}' works also (only
the abbreviation does not work, then). For details, please look into the
biblatex documentation, there is also a list of all fields and how they
are treated in biblatex.

Well, that's astonishing, because it shouldn't work. And it doesn't for
me. I've attached a .lyx file with your suggestion and the report class
(KOMA-Script), and it does not work here, i.e. the bibliography still is
named 'Bibliography'.
So, I think it will be sufficient to accomplish the task for him.
Whether it's technically the correct way of approaching the solution
is another topic and he can choose how he would like to solve it.
Well, it's no technical issue. It just doesn't work the way you
described it, and I don't know how you made it work, but surely not that
way.

document not the Preamble.

This is inconsistent and wrong. The 1996 Duden says (R4): Bei der
Abschnittsgliederung *mit Ziffern und Buchstaben* steht der Punkt nach
römischen und arabischen Zahlen und nach Großbuchstaben. i.e. the dot
has to be after numbers *and* letters, if there is an appendix. I cannot
find this rule in the 2004 Duden (23. Auflage), though.
What can I do to get the above described formatting?
I don't know if it is possible. You can leave the dot or have it, but
having it with letters and leaving it with numbers is not desired.
I had the same problem with having a passage like see another author
\cite{author_x} in my bibtex file.
I have no idea what this has to do with your question.

If you have none of the options set, KOMA decides which case is appropriate, i.e.: if you have no appendix, possibility 1 is used, if you have an appendix, possibility 2 is used. This feature may need more LaTeX runs of which LyX is not aware, so it could be that the change does not take effect in the first output after you added or removed an appendix. Hi all, is it possible to have an inverse dvi search on Windows? I am using LyX 1.4.3-4 with MikTeX 2.5 at the moment and I found on the mailing list archive only a hint in a message regarding the release of LyXWinInstaller 2.7, which makes me believe that it should work. LFUNs in 1.5 RC1 (Windows)
Hi all, I just tested the Windows 1.5 RC1 version which is a great improvement IMHO -- thanks to all the developers. I have one problem so far, regarding LyX Functions. I use functions like the following in my bind file: \bind C-M-o command-sequence self-insert ø This worked in LyX 1.4.3 without problems. However, this does not work any longer, because of the non-standard letter ø. If I have, say, command-sequence self-insert test, everything works fine. Is this a known bug or a new feature? If you really don't want to install rc2, you should at least copy the lib/lyx2lyx directory from the rc2 tarball and replace the one in your rc1 installation. I have entered that now.
Interestingly, the other abbreviations are still there (Hrsg.,
Bd.), and the month is now displayed as abbreviated word of the
month, e.g. (besucht am 15.Jan.2005).
I cannot reproduce that. Are you sure that abbreviate=false is set and
active? Do you have other settings in biblatex.cfg? Which versions are
you using? You can easily check the versions by adding \listfiles to
your preamble, then a file list is appended to the .log file. I use the

My example uses the language 'ngerman' which you have adapt if you are
using another language like 'english' or 'german' or whatever. In your
example you had the following line:

So I assume that you are using 'ngerman' as your default language and
the above example should work.

In LyX, just go to the menu 'Tools - Preferences' and look into the 'Paths' section where the 'Temporary Directory' is listed. This is the directory where LyX stores every file while processing it. Next, open the document you wish to work on and compile it. You can see the log file created during the compiling process from within LyX (menu 'Document - LaTeX Log'). The next step is to open a console window (don't close LyX at this point, because then it would delete the temp directory!) and browse to the directory you have looked up. You can change to a directory by typing 'cd', followed by a space and the directory name, e.g. ,-- ¦ C:\cd Temp ` (Everything before the is the path you are currently in.) If you have to go one level up, the command is ,-- ¦ C:\Tempcd .. ` Inside LyX's temp directory, you will find at least one directory whith a name like 'lyx_tmpdir.gq6580'. The characters after the dot will vary, but the 'lyx_tmpdir.' part is always the same. If you have more than one directory, these are leftovers of earlier LyX sessions where LyX was not properly finished (unless you do not have several LyX instances open at the same time -- every instance creates one directory). The newest directory should be the one you are looking for. This directory again has at least one subdirectory. Every buffer (i.e. every document you open inside LyX) has its own subdirectory. The first is called 'lyx_tmpbuf0', the second 'lyx_tmpbuf1' and so on. If you close a document, the directory is deleted. Browse to the appropriate subdirectory and type the following (only the bit after the ): ,-- ¦ C:\Temp\lyx_tmpdir.gq7420\lyx_tmpbuf0bibtex8 -W filename1-blx.aux ¦ C:\Temp\lyx_tmpdir.gq7420\lyx_tmpbuf0bibtex8 -W filename2-blx.aux ` Thereby, BibTeX will be executed for the appropriate file (you have to change the filename, of course). If you have more than two files (you can look that up at the end of the logfile, a file with the extension .log that resides in the same directory), you have to repeat that for every file. [Note: if you don't have bibtex8 (bibtex8bit) installed, try 'bibtex' instead of 'bibtex8 -W'. But it would be better to install bibtex8.] Afterwards, you go back to your LyX session and compile once again. Then the references should appear. This seems very complicated at first sight, but I tried to give a step-by-step explanation, and I think if you've done that once or twice, it's not that complicated. However, it would of course be better to have this done from inside LyX automatically. I don't know if that's possible, but you could ask on the developer list or file a bug report. HTH, Dominik.-

Hi all, I installed LyX 1.6.0 on WinXP without problems and can open lyx files of the 1.5.x series. But on Windows Vista, the same installation cannot read 1.5.x files. Do you have the same installation of Python on both boxes (just the subset that Uwe bundles, or a full install on both)? I have only the Python that Uwe bundles, on both machines. The second sentenc you cited above bear on my insallation on a WinXP system, where your installer worked perfectly. On the Vista machine, I had no Python installed and the lyx2lyx script failed. I now installed Microsoft's VC++ redistributable package, as suggested by Paul Rubin, and now the lyx2lyx script works. So I think there is a problem with the python.exe and/or python26.dll which are in the bin directory of LyX 1.6. I'm currently also on a Vista machine but cannot reproduce the problem. I installed here also Python 2.5.1 and then LyX using my installer. LyX correctly recognized Python 2.5.1 and therefore not installed Python 2.6. Dear list, I have a problem regarding the biblatex package, especially my package which builds on top of biblatex.[1] Attached is a .lyx file which shows the problem. If I run this with LyX 1.6.0, I get an incomplete entry, because the @collection entry is cited by the @incollection internally and to resolve that @collection entry, a second bibtex run would be possible. However, LyX does not provide a second bibtex run, even though biblatex states in the log file that a second bibtex run is needed: ,--[ from the logfile ] ¦ LaTeX Warning: There were undefined references. ¦ ¦ Package biblatex Warning: Please (re)run BibTeX on the file(s): ¦ (biblatex)lyx-biblatex-xref.aux ¦ (biblatex)and rerun LaTeX afterwards. ` If I alter the .lyx file (e.g. add a space) and compile once more, everything is fine. Is this line in the preamble? Different from 'normal' BibTeX, biblatex
needs this line to be in the preamble. The bibliography will be printed
with the command \printbibliography which you have to give in ERT.
See the biblatex manual for details on the differences between biblatex
and the 'normal' BibTeX.

Yes, you can do that. In this case, don't use the biblatex.module. Put
the usepackage-command in the preamble, but without the option
'natbib=true' (or with 'natbib=false'). Then every citation that you
insert with LyX is a normal \cite command. To use the other commands
provided by biblatex, you have to use ERT. You can of course create some
shortcuts for these commands. Here are the shortcuts that I use in my
.bind file:

have a sign in the margin as well as signs in the text if greyed-out is
used in footnotes.
Of course you can customize the font (emphasize, sans serif, whatever)
just for the notes.

Configure fails
Dear LyX users, if I try to re-configure LyX, it fails. The following is shown when I start LyX with '-dbg lyxrc': ,-- ¦ File .../configure.py, line 11, in module ¦ import sys, os, re, shutil, glob ¦ ImportError: No module named os ` The module os (os.py) is in 'C:\Programme\Python\Lib', and I put this directory in the path prefix as well (additional to 'C:\Programme\Python' which was there already), but it did not work either.
