Re: [MacGroup] Touch ID on iPad and iPhone

2018-02-15 Thread Harry Jacobson-Beyer
Hi Jim,

I think the issue is the button cover on my Otter Box case and the lotion I put
on my hands.
I think I’m going to resign myself to using the key pad.

2018-02-15 Thread James Bennett
Harry - I had the same problem on my iPhone 7 plus. Touch ID worked fairly well
at first but a few months ago it stopped working at all. Recently I deleted my
old prints like you did and it’s been back to working fairly well. I’m keeping
my fingers crossed it doesn’t stop working again…

Understand that, but if it ever does u can’t get to settings. The assistive
touch lets u get to settings and apps. Just a precaution.

Re: [MacGroup] Touch ID on iPad and iPhone

2018-02-13 Thread Beth Phillips
Harry,

In the winter months I end up rescanning my fingerprint frequently. Seems when
your hands get dried out, shriveled up or chapped from the cold it alters your
fingerprint. Mine works fine in the warmer months. This has been documented on
the web in a few places, here's one below. They suggest creating a "cold"
fingerprint.

https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__osxdaily.com_2014_12_31_improve-2Dtouch-2Did-2Dcold-2Dweather_&d=DwIFAg&c=OAG1LQNACBDguGvBeNj18Swhr9TMTjS-x4O_KuapPgY&r=F2GFXrjLFqVo3VwvIlo_XYeEiRRjHv15rxcenz7A21woG2aFGcrzndoSsskxfmOs&m=npwMHVBIzg7bTEE-xt5onUqNQ8SGb2-wf9xjEYoEQLs&s=JNR213xfW6ae1lGuo1EvXjmNj5FPPRCAbuxeYdmuIWA&e=

Hope that helps.

I would still turn assistive touch on. If home button fails it gives u access.
If fails otherwise you can’t get to settings.

Harry,

What are the odds that both would go out at the same time!

My wife has trouble with her devices, because she has her hands so saturated
with creams…

Take the screen off the Otterbox and see if it works….

There has to be a common cause of possibly something covering the fingerprint
home button (a cream that won’t allow it to read) I kept losing the back off
the original Apple Watch due to sunscreen…If it was just one it would make you
think the button needed to be replace but both…!!

John

[MacGroup] Touch ID on iPad and iPhone

2018-02-12 Thread Harry Jacobson-Beyer
The Touch ID feature on both my iPad and iPhone no longer works. In trying to
correct the issue, on two or three occasions, I have deleted the fingerprint
and then readded it. It might work once or twice but then stops working.

I have an otterbox case on my iPhone, and it used to work till the cover got
smeared. So I would clean it off and it would work again. But not anymore.
