The systems with the translucent AUTO button don't have
porcupines, they have a separate fan control relay box (behind
the glove box) and use a resistor pack under the hood. Plenty
of places to go wrong.

IIRC corroded thermostat _housings_ can induce problems.
The plates don't seat right. If the bypass channel couldn't
be closed properly, and hot water takes the path of least
resistance, then it could overheat then.
Did you check the inside of the thermostat housing for
corrosion or damage?

A winch is like trying to shear off a nail, versus
pulling it out. Use a jack to lift it up, fill in
under the wheels, and drive away. You can use a regular
floor jack, but you might need to do a bit of digging
to make a bit of a trench for it.

I remain convinced that the time SWMBA was forced off the freeway

What's best to drive with, 4.3 or 6k?
I'm not too sure you can really tell the difference
from the driver's seat. I know daylight is 5.5kK,
and I also know that blue light is _not_ a plus for
improved night vision. My guess is that the standard
color is best.

Hard to argue with the cost/benefit ratio of the basic rope-pull
5-6kW genny. WAY better than no power at all, and will run most
anything you need to. Can even heat up the hot water tank for
a shower, if you turn off everything else. (About 4kW for most
hot water heaters, IIRC.)

The $6 ones from Harbor Freight always worked for me, assuming the
battery started out fully charged and the maintainer hadn't died.
Gotta check the LEDs every once in a while to make sure it's working.

before pouring it in the hole. Also, the bottom of the hole
should be gravel, so that water can escape the pipe and drain
away, rather than puddling in the concrete around the pipe,
rusting it away.

There are only a few ground clusters, it's well worth the time to
disassemble, clean, and reassemble them. Many weird things can
be cured that way. Also check and possibly clean contacts in
the fuse box; check/clean/replace fuses. The horn doesn't
have a relay, it's a circuit that's as simple
If you leave the fader connected for the rears, a rear-seat
passenger can lean forward and turn down his own volume when
you're making it too loud in back!

Having finally had enough, I caved and took the car in
for a professional diagnosis. The fuel system tested OK,
and there _are_ vacuum leaks that will have to be dealt
with. The most amusing result was that one of my _new_
Beru spark plug wires was open-circuit. (Though I believe

Right about now I regret having thrown away that nasty old
worn-out Beru set (?) that came out of the
Classic master cylinder problem. Re-sealing it might
alone do the job, you don't know if the inside of the
cyl is all rusty/nasty until you look. I have seen
ones that failed after many years, that did _not_
have a bore problem. That may vary with your usage
patterns, maintenance history, and
Wire feed welders are nicknamed glue guns. Clearly, HF
does not make one such. Using the Miller on clean, reasonably
thick sheet metal, and I understand the nickname.

There's a lot to be said for a mobile fleet of accumulators.
If you use the accumulator to drive off, it's less likely that
the juice would have been needed where it was parked anyway.
Even if you don't go
so it requires 60,000 watts to fly.
Maybe to take off, but typical cruise power is more relevant to
how practical the system is. I still bet it isn't good enough!

The tin roof on the barn leaks. Is there some sort of coating for this
sort of thing?
More 'tin'. (Usually steel. Or in the case of my family's barn,
a particularly heavy gauge post-WWII aluminum. I think it was
maybe corrugated bomber skin. I've never seen anything else

The dang S430 has messed up sensors and decides that I have blown
bulbs.
I recently resoldered the lamp-out warning unit in the Napmobile.
Cured its weird intermittent warning, which was actually an
intermittent rear side marker light, _in_ the LOWU. Bad solder.
Again. It wasn't the only one,

I was in Jackson WY, and the SDL was overheating. I used a coat
hanger to bypass the thermostatic fan clutch. It helped. Got
us home OK, anyway.

THe 126 with PS seems more heavy to steer than any truck I ever drove
without PS. THis is a design feature
The SEL's steering is nearly impossible when the engine dies.
Dreadful, death on a stick. Nothing at all like the light and

On some of our vehicles the load varies wildly (truck!), so I
like to keep a close eye on mileage. It can help tame my wife's

Whatever she wants it to mean? Played out (they don't last
forever, hot breath and saliva attack the wood). Old ergonomics.

Can't happen unless you put/left it in neutral. The brakes are
stronger than the engine. With an automatic you'll be limited to
the stall speed of the TC, maybe 1800RPM 'til the outside fuel
runs out. On a manny, you should

is part of the new connection scheme faulty? (I believe the new
plastic handscrew relies upon an O-ring seal. Versus the [old,
and still there] LH screw thread seal that is metal-on-metal.)

It apparently got stuck on last night, I woke up this morning to 67 in
the house. The electric bill is probably not going the be pleasant.
Welded contacts are not all that rare, if it's built with the
tech that is susceptible to that. Not all that hard to patch,
