This does not appear to be an airmatic problem per se, something is
preventing it from working, another system, and I keep getting lead back to
ignition switch, which seems wierd. in order for it to be replaced, all
sorts of coding has to be done with special workshop keys, a green key, a
red key so on and so forth.

airmatic malfunction warning in the dash. I can't seem to even access the
airmatic module via DAS. Something in the front SAM is causing it I
believe and all the tests I run keep coming back to what is basically the
fancy electronic ignition key. Strange thing is that it passes all the
tests and comes up with no error codes. It is like there is some circuit
that tells some other computer module to turn on the airmatic. No leaks,
the system just will not turn on. So, it appears its either the ignition,
the front SAM, wiring, or a bad relay, but I have swapped relays around in
the fuse box and that does not cure it, so I am pretty sure I have
eliminated that as a problem (relay that is ). So I go back to ignition
 switch or front SAM.

Careful with Paypal, they're commonly regarded as not nice people. There are
lots of reports where somebody complains and they tie up ALL your money (not
just the amount of the order) for some long period of time during which you
have zero recourse. You need to ask yourself if those hassles are worth a
couple hundred bucks a year.

They are commonly referred to as an illegal bank. I only give them my credit
card, they wanna screw with me its got to be through Chase...

I have also been suggesting my customers use Paypal rather than CC
service. I changed CC processors a couple of years ago to Authorize.net
which charges a $160. fee/year for something called PCI compliance.
It's basically me competing a questionaire telling them how I keep my
customers' CC info secure. In my case the website has a secure shopping
cart - if they use that i never see any CC numbers.

My 3 year service agreement expires in March and I have made arrangement
to use a different service. My provider also refuses to work with
companies which sell firearms and related merchandise - which I disagree

I had not considered going 100% Paypal -- have your customers given any
push-back for you wanting to use PayPal for everything? Seems like a
good direction to me...

My wife has dealt with PayPal for several years now with no ill affects. I
understand the tie up money issue which is why you should transfer funds out of

There was an article somewhere I read about this, apparently a big part of
today's scams is to find the absolute dumbest people around. As a scammer you
don't want to waste a bunch of time setting up the scam only to have somebody
back out at the last minute.
Your mistake is acting like you have a brain. If you KNOW the numbers you're
clearly screwing with them. People who are in trouble with credit card debt
don't know how much trouble they're in. You need to keep some paper by the
phone, crumple it and say geez I saw a credit card bill at some point, lemmie

I got a call this morning from the Windows Department. The fellow could
not speak English very well and there were long pauses in what he was
saying. He said he was calling me because of my Windows computer

He asked me, Do you know why you are getting this call?

I replied, Yes, you want to scam me and take my personal information.

He hung up.

Larry,
My customers could still use a credit card even if I switch to PayPal
completely. It's just that the CC processing would point to PayPal and they
would process the charges through to MC, VISA, Discover, etc. As far as the
customer sees, they are just paying with a CC. Now if they select PayPal, then
they know they will have to use their PayPal account. I only use PayPal for
international because it's safer and removes the CC fees for international
which can get high sometimes.
PayPal also does not charge the PCI fee which BOA charged me last month. I
don't handle my customer CCs either, but I still had to pay the fee and do the
online certification. It's just another bank ripoff to me. I also use

2014-02-20 Thread Dan Penoff
Larry,

As someone who works closely with PCI due to our organization accepting online
CC payments I can assure you that the PCI fees were coming from the bank and
are difficult to avoid.

With all the CC fraud and theft that's going on, especially from things like
the Target breach, the processors are circling the wagons big time to cover
their butts.

We're looking closely at a third party vendor for processing as it takes all
that away from us. Costs more, but in the long run it's cheaper.

I spend probably one day a week doing PCI related work on our internal system.
And it's just one server that doesn't even do any processing - the data flows
through it, which puts it in scope according to PCI standards.

I ordered these off Amazon, my wife has Amazon Prime. Free shipping, 2
days, no taxes. I'm not sure of the price compared to Jabba but that is
pretty good service. Febi from Amazon. I was looking and they have
lots of Benz parts. Perhaps Jabba could discuss how for commodity

Many years ago mutual insurance companies, which are owned by the insured,
were formed in order to avoid gouging by stock insurance companies.
Since some of the premiums being quoted currently by health insurance
companies are obvious gouging, mutual health insurance companies may be a
well established model that would bring premiums down. This is currently
being discussed on the internet but there probably won't be much accurate
information until more info comes out about Obamacare.

ACA puts a pretty high limit on the payout ratio.

Demutualization was a big thing a few years back.
Good deal for the customer/owners, who got nice checks in the mail to buy out
their ownership. Could have had nearly free car insurance if you could predict
which company would go public each year.

You can keep your existing policy until it expires, but it will not be
renewed. There is a 30-day window at expiration to change to a different
policy. I'm sticking with my existing policy until it expires and then
deciding. Our federal government is an absolute joke, but as long as there
is NASCAR, NFL, WWE, and ESPN, most American's don't care because most
don't spend the time to understand and many others seem to like the joke
that the federal government is.

ACA puts a pretty high limit on the payout ratio.

Demutualization was a big thing a few years back.
Good deal for the customer/owners, who got nice checks in the mail to buy
out their ownership. Could have had nearly free car insurance if you could
predict which company would go public each year.

Sometimes you just have to celebrate the checks and balances form of
government. We can see it in action now. It allows no one part of the
government to over power the other, and run rough shod over the governed. As
long as they keep at each others necks, it is all good. When it implodes, then
it can be built up clean and sparkly. Better fit and able to meet the real
needs of the populace.

Local liberal coverage is trying to place blame, but in reading the reporting
of statement made by out states congress critters, they are far more entrenched
in their positions than the right. Less willing to sacrifice their own pay to
help their staffers, and have a giant sense of entitlement to suckle at the
public teat, while those across the aisle are putting pay in escrow for their
staff, or making a cut equivalent to the one taken by the rest of the federal
employees.

Compromise is not a game the left is willing to play. So, the show down

The thing that has me confused (and I am saying this from a totally neutral
point of view) is how the Republicans can try to change something that has been
voted into law? After all, the ACA passed both houses and was signed into law
by the President. The only way to change or rescind the law would be through
the legislative process.

With this in mind, there is no way to short circuit a piece of legislation
based on our current process.

I realize that there have been numerous attempts to vote on repealing the ACA,
but they have all failed to-date. Short of there being success in this manner,
I see the current approach as being fundamentally flawed and totally
inappropriate.

The president has changed the law that Congress passed (barely, but that
is another story) by postponing the employer mandate by 1 year.
Congress said, Do this and the president decided to do something
else. Not sure what consequences there are to that unilateral action
(which is not really allowed) but there you go.

Seems like the whole thing is just one giant mess.

Re: [MBZ] slow day

2013-10-04 Thread Rich Thomas
I actually read a version of the law before the one that had to be
passed to find out what was in it. It was like 1200 pages long pdf, but
it was widely spaced and not much on each page, so it went pretty fast.
the thing that struck me about it was how much of it had very little to
do with provision of health/medical care, and how much asserted that
various commissions, boards, panels, etc. were to go off and figure it
out, without a lot of guidance on what it actually was. A lot of it
also related to other laws that needed to be changed, superseded,
deleted, etc. to read differently in various provisions of those. So
there was actually not much of anything in there that one could divine
what was actually meant or intended. Most curious, but then I thought
about it, and it became clearer.

I questioned a local candidate for the state legislature, who was waxing
enthusiastic about the PPACA, if he had actually read the law and
understood it sufficiently to 1) be enthusiastic and 2) vote on things
in the legislature regarding the law and whatever requirements it would
impose on the state. His response was that no, he had not actually read
it, and did not know anyone who had, at which point I said I did and
he then said, Well, it is Obama's law, so I am all for it! This guy
is a black democrat, which reflects most of our population in this
district, so I sorta expected that, but was also disappointed he could
not think for himself. He is a nice guy though, and seems to actually
do stuff if you ask him, so I guess you can't get the whole package.

Yes, where are those on the left who are waxing poetic on how the law was
passed and signed and declared Constitutional by the Supreme Court when
Obama has violated the law by postponing the employer mandate and giving
out exemptions to his buddies and supporters? Why are they not pushing
for him to go to jail?

Seems like the whole thing is just one giant mess.

That is an extreme understatement. And that doesn't even address the lack

Have a look at the following link, which is a picture of the ACA bill, as
passed, plus all the regulations which are now a part of this bill by
authority of the law, from the various agencies now having authority to
write regulations [weight of law, no direct representation of Citizens in
writing regulation]

The stack now towers some 7 feet high. You are responsible to know every
word and it's meaning [Ignorance of the law is no defense, remember].

The page count now comes to over 20,000 pages and still rising.

For those of you that have not grasp yet what has to happen for this law to
go into effect, Congress has to FUND THE LAW to implement it.. no tickee,
no laundree GI. Without funding,,, it doesn't function. It's on the
books, yes.. but so is that law that says you can't spit on sidewalks...

Everybody is affected by ACA, unless they already have Medicaid, or don't have
insurance of any sort and plan to entirely ignore the new law.

Here's the effect on me: Right now, the best deal I can find is $187/mo for
$2000 deductible full coverage with $2000 cap on out of pocket expenses. Same
plan is $132 with $5k deductible. This sort of insurance is everything I could
ever want, except maybe I could want more in-network doctors.
An ACA compliant policy from the same insurance company would cost $443/month
with a $6000 deductible.

Let's go over that again: Today, $5k deductible costs $132/month, in January,
$6k deductible costs $443.43/month, or an increase of 20% in out of pocket
liability for an increase of 236% in premium.

I don't care if they offer me a $4k tax credit, I'm not buying health insurance
at 2014 prices.

Wish I could say that about my niece's little dog.
One night I let her out one last time before going to bed, and when I let
her back in the room filled with the stench of horse feces. We gave her a
bath, but the smell seemed undiminished. The stench which was filling my
house was coming from the mouth of a 10lb Rat Terrier. Amazingly enough,
holding her down and attacking her with a tooth brush and mint flavored
toothpaste totally solved the problem.

Did it also solve the proclivity to repeat the ingestion?

reported erroneously and in a misleading and sensational manner by
too many journalists or wannabe journalists who embellish the facts

So tell me, Mr. Reporter Sir, is it just that you're stupid, or
incompetent?

Or merely a lying propagandist and not actually a reporter at all?
Feel free to quote me on this, if you like. If you _can_.

Boy, am I in a squirrely mood today or what?!

Hey Larry, NASA was very memorable despite the fact I drank a lot more back
then. But in retrospect, every job I ever had was memorable and rewarding
to me but few are as well known by the general public.

tied-down F-15 at max afterburner on both engines (it was a fuel system
test). It was literally awesome; shook my whole body.

44 years ago yesterday, men from Planet Earth first walked on the Moon.

This is what they used to get there. 1.5 million pounds of thrust from
EACH of 5 engines, more power flowing through the nozzle than was
electric power being generated in the whole United States at that
moment. Not one engine ever failed in flight, with 50+ year old technology.

Today we have no heavy lift capability.

Enjoy.
