Probably came from the same people who say the out of camera jpeg's are to soft.
I find the shutter noise on my K10D is quiet enough, and the jpegs
sharp. I have to do a lot more work on the D200 ones.
Maybe send these reviewers an SF-1 and or a 6x7 to compare.

I always pan with SR on. In fact, I shoot off a tripod with SR on.
Doesn't make any difference IMO. In fact, I didn't see anything in the
K7 manual about turning it off for tripod shooting, although the K20D
did suggest that it SR be switched off. Of course I've only skimmed
the K7 manual.
The Epson premium papers when printed with pigment inks are said to be
archival and should last for a century of more. I doubt that any
finish will last as long as the ink and paper will on their own. As
Ann suggests, matting and framing is probably the best protection.

I have found that if I press the shutter just a bit beyond half-way on the
K10D, I get 2 or 3 frames in rapid succession, but they hold the same focus
point.
