Both taken with the HD 55 - 300mm @ 300mm f8 AV Range of subject about 40m. Mininimal post processing, images uncropped, not sharpened If you look at the EXIF you will see that the resolution of the K110D image is 72dpi whereas the K5 image is 300dpi. The original K110D file is 4.64Mp & the K5 5.72Mp Visually I can't see any difference. Both original files start to become pixellated at about 150% zoom. I think we need some expert comment here. Hmm. All those camera bodies are mostly worth pennies. Flash units, etc ... eh, depends on what you want/need/etc So let's say there are 800 lenses across all brands ... that's about $80 per lens at $65000 for the lot, of which some number might be useful to you (because you have the cameras they work on) but most will likely not be. It's a questionable deal unless you're looking to stock a used camera shop with inventory. I would speculate that it has happened because it was one of the most frequently used directories on the disk. With that, when the glitch happened, something was writing to the directory, and hence the directory was corrupted. I assume all your image files were in subdirectories, and not in a single directory. Otherwise, I'd be guessing that Drobo might have some problem with a directory containing too many files. (32768=2^15, so, with 30k+ of files that you'd have in that, there could be some 16-bit-limit on the directory entries number) Sorry to hear about your trouble and good luck with the restoring! In my experience, right angle finders are rarely much use other than for doing flat-art copy work on a copy stand or low angle work with a long lens on a low tripod. You have to get your eye too close and the angle just right for them to work properly, which doesn't help much when you're shooting tabletop product work. An articulated LCD with Live View and (preferably) magnification assist makes tabletop work a delight. Similarly, WiFi with a live view remote controlling app onto a modest sized tablet display makes tabletop work, low or high angle shooting, etc, very very easy. I'm betting I managed to do this to myself. Fortunately, my old Drobo fired right up, and it gives me everything until I retired it in late 2015, and I'm good from early 2016 on my working drive. I might have lost a few files between late 2015 and early 2016, but I don't recall having shot anything of great social or political importance during that time. The old Drobo is an origian USB, and I am copying nearly a terabyte of data from it to my newer machine. This looks like it will be going most of the weekend. Sorry to hear about your trouble and good luck with the restoring! Hope it will go smoothly. It seems to be going good so far. Slowly, but goodly. A project who's entire premise was that the AC tech team was smarter than anyone else, something that's been proven wrong over and over again. actually, no... though thanks for the thought. I had one years ago... I found it a bit of a PITA.. The flipout with the live viewworked for me with the Canon not just for the studio stuff but outside too.. Some cameras, might use Pixel binning which combines all the information in four adjacent pixels to produce one, or they can simply drop enough pixels using only the color information to get to 6mp. Since 16mp doesn't come that close to being 4x 6mp, (I'd have to think about the math and I'm feeling extremely lazy right now so I'll go with that), there's going to be some resizing and manipulation either way. Oh yeah. SR works in movie mode on the K-5 too. That alone makes up for the lack of manual mode IMO. For the most part you can get away with autoexposure and exposure locking when appropriate. The files are huge and it only records for 5 minutes, but 80mbs is much better than the 18 or so the K-3 is putting out.. My K-5 IIs is still getting regular constant use and to be honest I prefer its IQ over the K-3 somewhat except in the best light. At night that camera is a handheld beast though I will concede that the SR is a little better on the K-3. Still I can get down to 1/6th or more pretty easily depending on focal length. I've pretty much settled on just buying another one when it finally dies. It is a very good camera even now.
