Re: Upgrade from K5 to KP???
Oh yeah. SR works in movie mode on the K-5 too. That alone makes up for the lack of manual mode IMO. For the most part you can get away with autoexposure and exposure locking when appropriate. The files are huge and it only records for 5 minutes, but 80mbs is much better than the 18 or so the K-3 is putting out.. My K-5 IIs is still getting regular constant use and to be honest I prefer its IQ over the K-3 somewhat except in the best light. At night that camera is a handheld beast though I will concede that the SR is a little better on the K-3. Still I can get down to 1/6th or more pretty easily depending on focal length. It's photoshop and old fashioned file keeping and backup for this old fashioned guy. I have to say that I agree. I have always organised all my images and video in simple Mac file hierarchy. Takes a few minutes to organise them and whatnot but I have an inherent distrust in proprietary systems. Of course, one could argue that the computer system is proprietary but files within folders and folders is about as simple as it gets? And all backed up of course. I use lightroom, but have my files stored in a logical directory system that makes them easy to find without lightroom, and will make it easy to switch to another editor. I certainly don't trust the cloud. Ever since the debacle back in 2007 when Apple brought out the first iPhone. If you recall, there was an issue with Apple's iCloud (not called that back then, I forget what) whereby lots of users' contacts suddenly went missing of their phones for a few hours! Not pleasant when you're a business user with hundreds of contacts nd you suddenly need to call one of them... The cloud can be a helpful supplemental backup. Ever since then I have always backed up my phones and tablets locally to the computer, never through the cloud. Sure, the chances are slim it would ever happen again but that one occasion lost my trust. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Re: massive collection for sale
Hmm. All those camera bodies are mostly worth pennies. Flash units, etc ... eh, depends on what you want/need/etc So let's say there are 800 lenses across all brands ... that's about $80 per lens at $65000 for the lot, of which some number might be useful to you (because you have the cameras they work on) but most will likely not be. It's a questionable deal unless you're looking to stock a used camera shop with inventory. In my experience, right angle finders are rarely much use other than for doing flat-art copy work on a copy stand or low angle work with a long lens on a low tripod. You have to get your eye too close and the angle just right for them to work properly, which doesn't help much when you're shooting tabletop product work. actually, no... though thanks for the thought. I had one years ago... I found it a bit of a PITA.. The flipout with the live viewworked for me with the Canon not just for the studio stuff but outside too.. Re: smaller resolution vs native formats
Some cameras, might use Pixel binning which combines all the information in four adjacent pixels to produce one, or they can simply drop enough pixels using only the color information to get to 6mp. Since 16mp doesn't come that close to being 4x 6mp, (I'd have to think about the math and I'm feeling extremely lazy right now so I'll go with that), there's going to be some resizing and manipulation either way. Re: PESO: What Exit Wine
Honestly can't remember the name of the facility or the exact town it was in. All I remember is that it was close enough to the convention center where G. H. W. Bush and W. J. Clinton gave campaign speeches, pretty much back to back that I had to take two Fridays off to avoid being sealed in by both the Secret Service, and horrible traffic. They needless to say both helicoptered in... I was working through Anderson Consulting at the time, who changed their name to Accenture, to protect the guilty, mainly themselves, being partly privy to the inside politics between Arthur Andersen and AC was interesting and a very long sometimes amusing story. I was working on the SSART (sp? as I said it's been many years), project. A project who's entire premise was that the AC tech team was smarter than anyone else, something that's been proven wrong over and over again. I don't think AT ever took over complete maintenance of that system, because of it's convoluted design. On 7/6/2018 12:33 AM, Daniel J. It's photoshop and old fashioned file keeping and backup for >this old fashioned guy. Ever since then I have always backed up my phones and tablets locally to the computer, never through the cloud. Sure, the chances are slim it would ever happen again but that one occasion lost my trust. -- Cheers, Cotty ___/\__UK Shoot / Edit and || (O) |Live Broadcast News -- _ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

OK. Here they are: https://www.flickr.com/photos/wisselstroom/43181328112/ K5 shown - scroll for K110D Both 6Mp 3star JPEG's. Both taken with the HD 55 - 300mm @ 300mm f8 AV Range of subject about 40m. Mininimal post processing, images uncropped, not sharpened If you look at the EXIF you will see that the resolution of the K110D image is 72dpi whereas the K5 image is 300dpi. The original K110D file is 4.64Mp & the K5 5.72Mp Visually I can't see any difference. Both original files start to become pixellated at about 150% zoom. I think we need some expert comment here.
