I must say the RAW files I'm working on now are badly exposed shots of
people in mist. Almost everything is grey. The camera was on Daylight
and selecting cloudy in Pentax RAW more or less saves the pictures.

desperation I had it search for .nef (D1H/D1x) files. It recovered the
files, I then changed the extension to .pef. Works like a charm. All

nice (43-115 equivalent). But that lens is known as a better performer
than the Sigma and the Tamron is very inexpensive new. I wouldn't get
the Sigma unless it was significantly cheaper than the Tamron 28-75.

closed but not locked. i would never consider flying with the hard case. i
would rather put it in a very padded soft case and have it with me as
carryon or have the soft case inside a duffle packed solidly with lots of

I like the DS a lot, it's an amazing performer. The DL is essentially
a slightly less expensive version of the same camera, no reason for
it not to be excellent.
