I’m happy with our old HP OfficeJet 550. Its paper tray is big enough for a lot
of copies, its four ink tanks have a long lifetime, and it prints pretty fast.
It was sold to me as an alternative to a laser printer, and I think we’ve done
well with it.
We’ll see how it does with the cheaper ink

I think that XP has the printer driver for the HP LaserJet 4 (if not you
can download the driver) if you were to hit OK on that last dialog box.
That last dialog box indicates that the printer is found, but just does
not have the driver.

another issue you might have iif you are sharing it wirelessly (this
happened with my HP printer) is go into the setup menu and put in the
correct ip address. probably not your problem but just in case.
