No, iPeng has only one cache, not several. I once did consider managing
caches per-server (I'm in the same situation that I switch servers a
lot) but then you need a complex cache management to avoid having it
grow infinitely e.g. in dynamic IP environments or server reinstalls and

enough space for that. Even now, the A-Z bar doesn't fully fit on iPhone

You mean the data volume used? That does indeed sound excessive. I'm at
250 MBL for 35k tracks. Do you use streaming services a lot, their
thumbnails get cached, too. Flushing the cache should help for the local
library, remote thumbnails always get cleared periodically.

OK, it's a I suspected: the plugin somehow does completely different
stuff in the player interface (which iPeng uses) and the web interface.
What it probably needs to do is respect the shuffle setting whenever the
googlemusic playlist play command is
You can now monitor data usage per App so you can see whether it uses
any data.
Whenever you use iPeng it will try to communicate but unless you
configure a remote server or use MySqueezebox.com there's not a lot it
can communicate with over cellular.

actually a bug in the iPad 4's GPU as it seems.

The artist mix works for me, if it doesn't, it means the server doesn't
answer in time (30s). I do see some inconsistent behavior here, too,
though. For example the menu only has a play command whenever the mix
is not yet playing - in this code it

Do you only want to _inform_ LMS of a volume change or do you also want
to get informed by LMS for volume changes the player should make?
The latter will NOT work through CLI.
CLI delays volume notifications for up to a second and also there are
volume changes (replay gain, volume ramps,...)
Oh, and if you make volume changes through CLI expect gain changes on
the slimproto side to not be 100% the same. LMS uses the Boom's volume
ramp for gain changes so it's not linear, there's even a bug in the ramp
that means at some point decreasing the server volume (through CLI) by
one tick
