1. Get an older version of mplayer than the one delivered by the repository for 10.10. 2. Long time startup is just because mplayer fills its cache (IIRC about 128k) before starting to send audio into SBS so if you are playing a 32kbps stream it is a long time to start compared to a 320kbps

I searched in the forum and the web but can't find any fix to this. Hope people here could help. I am running latest sbs 7.6 on Ubuntu 10.10 (on a Atom based box). I use the Play Windows Media and Play Real plugin for transcoding. However, during transcoding, mplayer is showing 100% cpu use.
