Five of us met at a campground in the shadow of Mt Adams for the *Seattle
vs Portland Country Bike Rumble*. We got things squared away at camp and
set out for the Rumble Ride. We headed up The North Fork Cispus River for
about about 10 miles…. a fair amount of climbing, lots of breaks, bike

darkened to a nice honey color now. But it has never stained my clothes,

Think Manny is still out camping so I'll start with the ride reports
Normally any ride where I get three flat tires and am plagued by a
saddlebag rubbing on the rear wheel would seem pretty frustrating to me,
but this ride was so awesome that all of these minor problems paled in
comparison

This is fascinating! I see all kinds of wildlife running trails. Running
barefoot or in moccasins is so quiet they just don't hear me coming. I've
jumped over rabbits, foxes, turkey and nearly run into deer and bear. I see
much less on my bike. Tires make a lot of noise in comparison to bare
on a 35-mi ride yesterday, we stopped for fresh peaches at a shady roadside
stand. It was like manna from heaven.
We made a pilgrimage to a country bike shop to see a really nice Hetchins.
And yes, there was also a brewpub on the way home.

cages to allow for a greater range of chain angles without rubbing the
chain, which leads to clearance issues with older, narrow-Q cranks.

The VO 50.4 MK1 is a tight fit, which is apparently why they came out with
the MK2. I'm currently running my MK1, in 28/48, with the Microshift
braze-on FD. Was running it with an old Suntour vX. Tolerance with both
is tight - a few ratchet clicks either way - but the Microshift is holding
they have a 40 and 45. Wait another month and you can have my 40's to see
if you like them.

Yup, that was 98 degrees on the computer but may not have been the
official temperature of the day but it was at least the lower 90s and the
first scorcher with humidity. I had a gallon cooler filled with ice then
