Shorter for the 'stach and longer for the 'tross, definately. I've tried
both and the only setup that felt good to me was the 'tach bars on a bike
that was too small, ie short top tube and an upjutting (40 deg) stem.
Problem there is getting them high enough. The tross bars came close on my
I have a green Ram in 64 size. It didn't come with any mid-fork eyelets.

Yea. I have index systems. I repeatedly futz with them until I get them as
close to perfect as I can, then I flip them over to friction. Occasionally
I switch them back to index, just to see if they still shift okay. I have
no valid reason for doing this other than the fact that sometimes when

All,
I just put a set of Schwalbe Road Cruisers (700 x 40 ,brown with reflex) on
my Sam. I haven't gotten a chance to ride them any distance yet, but they
felt nice on a breif test ride.
They measure about37 mm on Mavic Open Sport rims. I have a first generation
green/ gold Sam with canits. They

condition. If felt to me a bit saggy, so I drilled 3 holes in each
side of the saddle right under the logo and laced her up. I did a
good job of this( IMO). I am looking for a trade of similar
condition.
Anyone out there like to swap evens?

Jim,
Mine did a tad. I have a pair that measure 32 mm on narrowish Sun Assault
rims . I'd guess they'd go 33 or so on a wider rim. Good tires btw.

I ordered a set from RBW yesterday. They seem like a good design. Wide,
long and thin. I'm anxious to try them out.

I find them more prone to squeal than other pads too. They stop
extremely well though. Cantis are prone to squeals.,That's their
nature. A brake hole type hanger stopped a long battle against squeal
and shudder on my Hillborne's front brake recently, now the rear has
started honking like a dam
a water bottle and then ride.
Works like a charm.

I like the brake hoods parallel with the ground and the reach 10cm shorter
and 10cm more height than I do on drops. For me the reach and height are
more important as to how they feel than the tilt. A half centimeter one way
or the other can really screw up the feel for me. YMMV.
