I upgraded to Red Hat Linux 7.1 yesterday on my work laptop. While the O/S
indeed looks clean (tightened init scripts etc) I've been having some nasty
X related problems.
My laptop (Toshiba Portege 3440CT) carries a Savage/MX videocard. I am using
the Savage X driver with XFree86 4.0.3.
Now it shows all services running but at the client side Iget the options open with
mount ip of machine:/shared dir dir on client
and it is not processed.
Any solutions ,where am I went wrong

If you want the proper path for root, then in /etc/ssh/sshd_config,
change "UseLogin no" to "UseLogin yes". This will properly set up
root's envirement when you ssh in as root. If you want the check for
new mail when you log in, set "CheckMail yes" as well.

version to find out how to force EMACS not to use X.

I would not do that. It's a band-aid, not a real fix. Look at your network
configuration scripts:
/etc/sysconfig/network
and
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/*
You should see the problem in one of those. That would be the correct place
to fix it.

I have a little problem that I'm trying to figure out
here. I've got a lot of strange messages in my log files: denied query
from [194.119.238.162].1054 ; denied query from [154.11.89.162].4707 and
so on. Some of these messages apear very fast and from the same
