I have discovered that my dynamic DNS and DHCP configuration is not updating the
reverse
zone properly and I believe the reason is that the name server does not
correctly use my LAN's
domain name (zone) as the default it expects a FQDN?
All I need is for nsupdate to be able to add a

Valid characters for hostnames (DNS) are still a-z and - are they not, as per
rfc952?
I am getting some entries in my mail server logs that suggest there are a few
hosts trying to send mail
to me with underscores in their names.

I _think_ you need to use a system filter to do this.
Have a look at the exim home page(http://www.exim.org),
the documentation is pretty thorough and there are examples.
I have something like this as my system filter, it rejects overlarge messages
and archives
a particular users mail to disk.

problem when i was using rpm from rh 7.0 to compile packages from 7.3 and
they were all segfaulting on me till i upgraded to the rpm used in 7.3

There is a lot of resources and the documentation is
quite complete (same docs as the C++ version) and augmented
by the mailing lists it is excellent.

ebugfs, cd into /var/log/mail and remove each file,
I believe this will work even though the normal rm command fails
and if it doesn't like the name I think you can use the inode to
delete the file.
Make sure you run fsck on the drives after this.

Although there are some very valid managerial reasons why to go along with
my supervisor's insructions
I will be trying my hardest to keep them as Debian machines and educate the
other users who might have to take some responsibility for them.

recomendations were to keep it on a read-only

I have a whole bunch of Gigabyte dual CPU machines at work. They function,
but that's abou it. I cannot get USB to work on any of them and I would most
definately *not* recommend them.
