Obvious, I know so apologies, but have you tried changing the batteries?
Also, its the little feet on the underside of the Trackpad that generate the
click; whilst the batteries are out, give them a thorough clean, there may be
some gunk stuck around them that is jamming them up.

They both work with regards to opening and exporting as word, excel and
powerpoint documents. Personally, I find iWork to be MUCH easier to use - its
all drag and drop! Think Russian Meerkat.

My iPhone is with Vodafone and I've asked them to unlock the tethering option.
if I'm out and about with my iPad and have no access to WiFi, I just switch on
my iPhone's Personal Hotspot' and access the internet through this.

What version of the OS are you using.
Reason I ask, you can reset the password in 10.5 and 10.6 by booting from the
install DVD. 10.7 doesn't have one, obviously, but the 'Reset Password'
utility can be invoked by a Terminal command.

Chrome for general day-to-day stuff and Safari for anything that won't work in
Chrome. I find the DevelopAgent menu in Safari extremely useful sometimes.
Mail is done via, well, Mail.
