I read the rules but it was kind of unclear. All that
was stated was that you could not change the size or
shape. If it means that each individual component
(rudder, vertical fin as two pieces) then yes it is
not legal. If you took the whole assembly (rudder and

the rudder and change it to a straight rudder is it

A few weeks ago I mentioned that I get in a new
design. It is called Trio. It is a pod and boom design
with carbon and Kevlar pod with slip on nose cone and
a carbon boom. It's wing is 3 meters and is equipped
with flaps and ailerons and is of all built up
construction with your basic mold

first samples I got. There have been some small detail
changes made to the design but this one still flies

You are correct. Blaine figured that this would lessen
the drag on the plane when the elevator was activated
and could lower weight ( less parts, hinges etc). It
does not adversely affect how it turns. It turns just
great.

failure is concave. Should I just inject epoxy under
the failure area and put a strip of glass on top or is

My feeling is that the PC should not be relied on for
all the programming but make it easier to do the
intial setup. I feel that a good UI is the key. I
would give up the idea of PC pragramming ability if
the manufacturers would make an easy to understand UI.

transfer a given set of saved settings onto my
transmitter. It would be very easy to do the GUI there
and do all the heavy lifting before sending to the Tx.

You see this all the time with Hobie Hawks after a
wing rod bend and it galls trying to remove it. I
usually fix mine by drilling out the old rod and then
drilling the aluminum tube so a brass tube of the
right size can be glued in the tube. This allows the

I use CA only where I need to. I am a fan of yellow
glue or my favorite, UHU Hart. CA will wick in more
that you think and you basically use more than you
really need to. Balsa is very porous stuff. That adds
weight and cost. Yellow glue is cheaper to use and
much easier to get off your fingers. M
I heard of someone awhile back here in RCSE building a
Grand Esprit short kit from DC hobbies and the ribs
were not right in some manner. DC Hobbies made new
ribs and replaced them. I sould suggest you call them
and see if they will send ribs that fit. There are no
cap strips on the Grand Esprit.

for the Cirrus, the CG should be 3 5/64" to 3
35/64"aft of the leading edge. I have always figured
this was measured close to the root of the wing. I see
no mention of control throws anywhere. The
instructions it seems assume you are using Graupn
Perry...

This has been on the Hobby Lobby site for quite
awhile. Not a RDS clone from what I can see since it
does not utilize a rotary motion. It has a back and
forth motion via a control cable and as such isn't as
universal. It is similar only in that it does not have

I haven't really decided where I stand on this issue. This discussion is
good in that it helps me as well as others see various viewpoints and make
an informed decision. Not saying anyone is right or wrong let me throw out
this scenario. A pure chartered sailplane club decides to attract different
place, but when our ability to
fly on someone else's property solely because of the
nature of RC Soaring (read quiet and peaceful) can be
compromised we have to be concerned.

Awhile back I asked for some info on the Bugatti
airplane. Funny all this information was coming out
right when I asked about it. Well since I only live an
hour and a half from Oshkosh I decided to go to the
museum and see it for myself. It is absolutely awsome.

Hi Folks...
I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction for a set of plans
or 3 views for the Bugatti powered airplane from the 30's. I thought someone
was doing a plan set but for the life of me I can't recall.
